I trying to figure out a solution for a tiny problem I have, but I didn't have much success in last two days. I've went through many posts here but I failed to find an adequate solution for myself. I know it's probably basic question for you guys, but it seems like I've lost focus and can think clearly about this issue.
So, this is the issue. I have a sample XML below, with the structure I need. What I want is to read this XML, go to the event I want and than read/ store all test elements.

Than, I want to use foreach loop, to access all test elements. But, I`m only able to access chiled nodes of first element test.

Ive tryed
xml.XPathSelectElements("dad")
then looping over and
dad.ReplaceWith(new XElement("mom", dad.descendants());
but it doesnt work :(

It looks like you want to rename the element 'dad' to 'mom':

If 'mom' is an existing element with its own elements and attributes i would replace the 'dad'-element and add the 'kid'-element to the 'mom' element:

My Current C# code dont give me anything. I like to read data from DayRoutine ID="3". How to do that? Because I try to erase "Where(r => (int)r.Attribute("ID")==3)" and I get result from first "DayRoutine". But I like to have data from "second" DayRoutine.
And later I like to read Points. But because it is not every time the same number of points, how to read this points with some loop?

How I can read points now? It can be points from 0 to 60.
This basic approach gives you the points as XElements.

You can select all names like so:
var names = from item in filedoc.Descendants("Item")
select (string)item.Element("Name");
Or without the query syntax:
var names = filedoc.Descendants("Item").Elements("Name").Select(e => e.Value);
You can get only unique names by:
var uniqueNames = names.Distinct();
You're on the right track. Try finding out exactly which invocation is giving you the NullReferenceException. My guess is that it's the attempt to find:
.Element("SST_SignageCompConfig")
Which is your root. Try the following instead:
// note the difference between .Element and .Elements
var count = filedoc.Root.Element("Items").Elements("Item").Count();
You could also use XPath to help you nail down the navigation within your XDocument:
// returns the current top level element
var element = filedoc.Root.XPathSelectElement(".");
// If the returned element is "SST_SignageCompConfig", then:
var nextElement = filedoc.Root.XPathSelectElement("./Items")
// If the "." element is *not* "SST_SignageCompConfig", then try and locate where in your XML document that node is.
// You can navigate up with .Parent and down with .Element(s)
And so on.
How about:

If your xml has only one Items element, this should do the trick:
filedoc.Descendants("Item")
.GroupBy(e => e.Element("Name")!=null? e.Element("Name").Value:String.Empty)
.Select(g => new

Because "Name" is an element and not an attribute of your xml structure.

I did some searching around the web and could not find the cause of my problem so I apologize if that has already been asked in another form I just did not understand.
My problem is that I am trying to parse the XML retrieved from Yahoo! Fantasy Sports but nothing seems to be working.
I have converted the XML I received (using a GET request with my credentials) into a string. Here it is for evaluation.

This is what's tripping you up:
xmlns="http://fantasysports.yahooapis.com/fantasy/v2/base.rng"
You're asking for elements in the unnamed namespace - but the elements default to the namespace shown above.
It's easy to fix that in LINQ to XML (and feasible but less simple in XmlDocument)
XNamespace ns = "http://fantasysports.yahooapis.com/fantasy/v2/base.rng";
var menus = chicken.Descendants(ns + "name")
...
Note that in your original method you're actually looking for name elements within the name elements - that's not going to work, but the namespace part is probably enough to get you going.
EDIT: It's not clear why you're using an anonymous type at all, but if you really want all the name element values from the document as ID properties in anonymous type instances, just use:
XNamespace ns = "http://fantasysports.yahooapis.com/fantasy/v2/base.rng";
var menus = chicken.Descendants(ns + "name")
.Select(x => new { ID = x.Value });
Note that there's no need to use Descendants(ns + "fantasy_content") as that's just selecting the root element.
Element name consists of two parts: xmlns(namespace) and localname. If xmlns is absent, name is equal to local name. So, you have to create name with namespace or ignore it
You can ignore namespace in your LINQ, just use LocalName

I have this XML file:

All 3 elements that are called 'MandatoryElementX' will always appear in the file. The elements called 'CustomElementX' are unknown. These can be added or removed freely by a user and have any name.
What I need is to fetch all the elements that are not MandatoryElements. So for the file above I would want this result:
<CustomElement1>value</CustomElement1>
<CustomElement2>value</CustomElement2>
I don't know what the names of the custom elements may be, only the names of the 3 MandatoryElements, so the query needs to somehow exclude these 3.

You can define a list of mandatory names and use LINQ to XML to filter:

If it's yours I would advise you not to number it. You can do something like
