I've been given a project to write code for a pin pad on a kiosk. Given that I'm new to coding (0XP), I do not even know where to start.
I've tried YouTube, but nothing there seems useful. I need a step-by-step process of getting to achieve this if possible. If you don't want to help, please don't be offensive in the answers.

I am new to this business and I want to make an application related to Bluetooth LE. I don't know where to start, I want to do it using a library. I searched libraries such as 32feet.Net, InTheHand.BluetoothLe, Plugin.BluetoothLe, ble.net but I could not figure out how to make a windows form app or what can I do and where to start. Can anyone help?
Bluetooth on windows has always been difficult with very few examples to learn from.
I think the most up to date way is probably to make a UWP application and use the Windows.Devices namespace. I've never tried it that way though.
There are examples of this here: https://github.com/Microsoft/Windows-universal-samples/tree/master/Samples/BluetoothLE
If you want to use 32feet.net, you will find some sample code in an old question of mine here:
Bluetooth Pairing (SSP) on Windows 10 with 32feet.NET
I got the basics of searching for devices working, but never got the pairing to work how I wanted, and the question never got an answer despite someone placing a bounty on it. Hopefully it at least puts you on the right path.
I've been working on a small Windows Forms based program (in C#) and I just started developing around 3 weeks ago. I'm not sure if this is possible through C# but I figure I'd ask in case anyone has a solution. I'm also not great at explaining things, so if you have any other questions, I'll be glad to answer them!
So, my goal is to create a function that allows me to define power plan settings (via GUID), create a power plan, and apply it for the user. I'm not sure how to go about this however, as CMD commands don't work in my use case as I want to create a power plan, not import one. I also looked at solutions that used powrprof.dll but that only changed default settings in the registry. I've also looked at other posts on StackOverflow related to this topic but have only found ways to import a power plan, not create one.
I'm not sure where to look and I've only hit dead-ends when it comes to this topic. If you have any solutions, I'm open to hearing them, regardless of the difficulty! Thank you and I hope you all have a wonderful day!
I want to trim a MP4 video in a Windows Phone 8 Application.
Say when saving a video, I only want to save the last two minutes.
I have tried converting the video stream into a byte array and altering it. Since the mp4 format has headers and lot of other metadata it is not easy to achieve this fiddling with the byte array of the stream.
If it is a Windows Store app I can use MediaTranscode class in the Windows.Media.Transcoding API to achieve this like in the article below.
Trim Video Windows Store App Example
I pretty much want to do something similar in windows phone.
Is there a similar API I can use in WP?
I also have been looking into Microsoft Media Foundation to achieve this? I am no C++ expert and wanting achieve this in C#.
Any help or direction would be much appreciated.
Thanks
C# in general is not setup to do movie editing. It's older sibling c++ is where this done. I know that's not the answer you want to hear but sometimes that's the only reality there is. I was going to offer a hack to make it happen but after digging through the MSDN libraries I don't even see a worthy hack for this.
Find a C++ example and work from there. It will be a little headache but you are much better off than attempting to make C# bend beyond its elasticity point.
Here is a similar thread expressing your concerns.
http://forums.wpcentral.com/windows-phone-apps/204490-video-editing-apps.html
They have made the point that there isn't a single video editing tool on the entire market.
With how long the market has been around I would assume this is because it's not a capability in C#. Which happens to be 99% of the developers working on windows phone right now.
I have been tasked with doing this application:
So far: I have a J2SE application which builds a bluetooth service and waits for an incoming connection.
A J2ME application which searches for the service and when a match is found, it streams images clicking continuously with the phone's camera. The J2SE app accepts the images and displays them on the desktop machine.
But according to my project specification, I need the desktop application to be developed in C#.
What I tried?
I tried to read the J2SE code line by line and reproduce the same in C#. After googling around I found that 32Feet library was a good choice. So I went ahead and read the documentation which has code samples in VB, and tried to implement it in C#. It started well with me discovering the local device successfully but eventually i got stuck in the part related to the creation of Bluetooth service.
While most of the terminology is same with ServiceRecord, UUID/GUID etc...but I have failed miserably. Moreover I tested some code which works in VB but fails in C#. Even I tried OBEX...(a small file transfer test) which worked yesterday but fails today with an exception.
Now I am contemplating of starting from scratch all over again. Can someone help me please in suggesting ways to proceed further. I mean in what tools/library/environment should i opt for. What is the best and reliable way to develop the desktop app in C# with the J2ME app already developed.
Help required please. All suggestions even small ones are welcome. I am relatively new to both Bluetooth and C#. I have some experience in Java and J2ME.
Its sad to see that you wish to leave back those libraries you did used and spend alot worty time tinkering with it.
Rather than leaving that effort, try to resolve it. Let us know what exceptions/errors your facing with those libs.
Many experts here shall surely help you with it. Or talk to the developer of those libs for any help needed.
Hope this kind of helps Bluetooth in C#, Which stack, Which SDK?
I am new to DirectShow.
My intention was to develope a small application (C#) that handles video processing.
The main tasks i need are :
1 - Display video content from a DVD.
2 - Navigate to specific points of time in the video.
3 - Capture specific frames into still images and save them to files.
Sounded easy at first, but after reading thousands of blogs, forums and code samples i can't figure out how this can be done .
I am pretty sure these tasks have been implemented plenty of times, so if anyone has anything that can help i would be very happy to hear it.
As i am getting desperate on this issue, buying external DLLs or paying for some advice is an option.
Thanks.
Not sure if this will help, but I have a DvdPlayerElement control in my WPF MediaKit.
You must install an audio codec if you want audio as the built in one with Windows is locked down due to licensing.
perhaps you can wrap the MSVidWebDVD object, combined with some screen capture techniques [?] see also Extract frame from VOB(DVD) file
Thanks Jeremiah, I do know WPF MediaKit and tried working with it.
It is pretty cool, but does not allow all of the functionality available in DirectShow.
There are some events missing and the seeking operation does not seem to work for me.
I guess i can dig in the code and figure it out, but the time pressure won't allow it.
If you have an example of an application that accomplishes what i am looking for (display, seek, capture) i would be very happy to take a look.
Thanks again.
