In program.cs file and in line that we choose first form,Iwant to show form1 when my application runs. But when my application runs, form2 apears.
I don't know what options I changed.
Not bad you know that when I change my codes and I want to close visual studio,there are no warning me to save and when I have an error in my codes,visual studio doesn't ask me that "you have an error in your application" or something like this.
Please help me to restore my defult options.

Can't say I've ever had Visual Studio fail to prompt me to save dirty files on exit, or on a build failure...
When you create a new solution/project in visual studio and you don't save it visual studio won't track changes and/or ask you to save things. Hit save once to save you're data/solution.
In the main function you can tell wich form to start, if you're using vb.net you can use the project properties page too. You can use a right click in the solution explorer to set a 'startup project'

I'm working on a winform app.
The design view worked well until I renamed the Form1.cs to FormMain.cs.
The program itself is ok. It can be compiled with no error and it runs well(with right form). But visual studio keep warning me that there are mistakes in FormMain.cs. It seems that FormMain class in FormMain.Designer.cs is totally ignore as it alerts "InitializeComponent(); is not defined."
And the design view goes blank as if the form was just newly-created.
IntelliSense tells me the origin(not yet renamed) Designer.cs is not found.
Now if I try to create anything on the blank form, the code is directly written in FormMain.cs.
How can I solve this?

Using Visual Studio 2019, I was following the C# WPF tutorial from Microsoft docs. Along the way, there is a step wherein you rename MainWindow.xaml to Greetings.xaml. When I did this, the design view was gone. Restarting Visual Studio fixes the design view. Of course, save your files before restarting.
Removing the form and adding it again to the solution fixes this issue. Here's how you can do:
Right click on the FormMain in the solution explorer and "Exclude From Project". Now right-click on the solution and click Add -> Existing Item and select the FormMain.cs from the same solution folder.
I am trying to reset every single setting inside Visual Studio as I have completely lost all IntelliSense. I tried the Tools -> Import/Export settings -> Reset, but that is not clearing all the settings. I know it is not since the color theme was not reset, and I still do not have IntelliSense. Short of uninstalling and deleting every trace of the program including the registry, is there another way to reset every single setting to the factory default?
Visual Studio has multiple flags to reset various settings:
/ResetUserData - (AFAICT) Removes all user settings and makes you set them again. This will get you the initial prompt for settings again, clear your recent project history, etc.
/ResetSettings - Restores the IDE's default settings, optionally resets to the specified VSSettings file.
/ResetSkipPkgs - Clears all SkipLoading tags added to VSPackages.
/ResetAddin - Removes commands and command UI associated with the specified Add-in.
The last three show up when running devenv.exe /?. The first one seems to be undocumented/unsupported/the big hammer. From here:

How to hard reset Visual Studio instance
When developing extensions sometimes you just mess up, others someone else does. If you start getting errors loading even the most mundane extensions, these are the instructions to hard reset your instance.
Close Visual Studio (if you haven’t already).
Open the registry editor (regedit.exe)
Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\{version}
Delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\{version}_Config
Delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\VisualStudio\{version} directory.
Enjoy your brand new Visual Studio instance.
Use {version}=10.0 for Visual Studio 2010
Use {version}=11.0 for Visual Studio 2012
Use {version}=12.0 for Visual Studio 2013
If on the other side you want to reset the experimental hive you can do the same to with the ‘{version}Exp’ ones.

Click on Tools menu > Import and Export Settings > Reset all settings > Next > "No, just reset settings, overwriting all current settings" > Next > Finish.
To reset your settings
On the Tools menu, click Import and Export Settings.
On the Welcome to the Import and Export Settings Wizard page, click Reset all settings and then click Next.
If you want to delete your current settings combination, choose No, just reset settings, overwriting all current settings, and then click Next. Select the programming language(s) you want to reset the setting for.
Click Finish.
The Reset Complete page alerts you to any problems encountered during the reset.
Executing the command: Devenv.exe /ResetSettings like :

Just repair Visual Studio itself from the control panel and that should do the trick!

My Visual Studio (2008) Editor has stopped to underline Errors (this nifty wavy red lines). I can't really tell when, but it can be related to the installation of .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1 or the MVC Beta (which I guess is unlikely). Furthermore have I installed and uninstalled both CodeRush and Resharper for evaluation purposes (decided not to keep either one of them).
Does anyone know the problem and how to restore this functionality again?
Have you checked Tools→Options...→Text Editor→C#→Advanced→Underline errors in the editor?
I usually like to reset my settings after messing around with plugins, as they tend to mess with settings: Tools→Import and Export Settings...→Reset all settings.
About possible causes.
For VS 2012 and 2013 if you have more than one instance of Visual Studio on different machines binded to one "live" account and have installed ReSharper on one of them, it disables the native IntelliSense and error underlines (to replace by it's own rules) that will be synchronised through your account to another machine without ReSharper.
Found it in Visual Studio 2019 as: Tools > Options > Text Editor > General > Show error squiggles
This is generally called Disable Squiggly or Wavy lines in Visual Studio.
How you will do in Visual studio 2013?
TOOLS -> Options... -> Text Editor -> C/C++ -> Advanced -> Disable Squiggles: True/False (Under IntelliSense) -> Press OK
I know its an old question, and with various solutions, but I have fixed it in different way. I'm working with Unity3D on my C# code using VS2017, when suddenly VS decides to stop underlining error while im typing. However, if I close the file tab and reopen, it suddenly undelines the error.
For example:
class A {
public int x;
s;
}
should obvsiouly give an error for that lonely 's' symbol. But, VS doesn't underline it until I close and reopen this file tab.
Solution:
Copied the entire Unity Project folder (which is like a regular VS Solution folder basically) and worked with the new folder, which issue was gone there.

You can re-enable the "Allow parallel project initialization" option after the issue was solved.
I tried to upgrade VS, reset VS settings, clear VS cache and everything people do conventionally but none of them solved this issue! At the end the mentioned solution worked for me magically.

Unloading and loading same project again from the solution does the trick. Just right click on the project and click "Unload Project". Once unloaded, again right click the same project and click "Reload Project". Error highlighting will return.
I had the same issue with 2017. There was a 'disable intelisense' option, make sure that is set to false.
For everyone wondering in 2021..
search for "C_Cpp.errorSquiggles" in the settings.
Make sure to have it active for the user, as well as the workspace.
No need to restart Visual Studio.
For me (VS 2019) , after trying the other answers also, setting the scope of analysis from "Current document" to Open document" brought back the missing error markers
Just go to settings and search for errors and Image in Error Squiggles. You can see the Error squiggles (Modified: Workspace - Right now you can't see it because I modified it). Just click on modified and you will see the disabled option. If by mistake you disabled it, just enable it and you can see the red line errors again in your code.
In latest edition, check for .vscode folder in same project folder. There will be a setting.json file in that. Delete the key value pair of "C_Cpp.errorSquiggles": "Disabled". Restart the vs code.
I have a project for which I can't open the settings editor in Visual Studio 2015. If I double-click the Settings.settings file or select the Settings tab in the project properties, the pane doesn't show the usual editor; just the message "The method or operation is not implemented.".
How can I go about finding the cause? Is there some way to see more details of the exception to help figure out what is not implemented? I last worked on the project in VS2013; could opening it in VS2015 have changed something to cause this?
If I create a new project and overwrite its Settings.settings file with mine, it opens fine in that project, but won't open in my existing project.
I have a Visual Studio 2010 Solution, that is also under source control (TFS 2010). Usually, I have no problem renaming a sub-project; just right-click, rename, and life is good!
However, I now have one project that I'm trying to rename, but whenever i right-click, type in a new name, and then hit enter, it goes right back to the old name!
I must be losing my mind here!
You probably already have a file with the name you are trying to use on the filesystem though not as part of the solution/project.
Use the windows explorer to find and delete this file and you should be good to go.
In the end it seemed like a TFS issue. THere was a lingering shelveset that was mapped to the project that wouldn't allow me to modify it at all. Once I was able to get my TFS admin to make the necessary changes, all was well!
Just try to do Reset Settings
The command "devenv /resetsettings" will restore Visual Studio back to its original factory state. If you have previously saved your settings from option 1 above, you can pass them as a parameter: "devenv /resetsettings ".
Or else if you have saved any previous settings try to import by this path "Tools" > "Import and Export Settings…" and your problem get resolved.
