How can I get rides from this error?
Any solution.

I am getting the following Error message on Run (Build) ->
"Couldn't process file 123.resx due to its being in the Internet or Restricted zone or having the mark of the web on the file. Remove the mark of the web if you want to process these files."
There are 4 forms in the project and Visual Studio 2017 (VS2017) shows error for all the 4 related resx files in this C# project.
Here are the key points.
I am running VS2017 Ent on a Win10x64 Ent sys, and everything (os, software including VS2017 and sys drivers) on this sys are updated as and when it becomes available.
I have a 1TB OneDrive storage access through corporate Office365 Ent, and I use this cloud storage to store all my data. VS2017 project location is customized to be stored on this OneDrive.
I didn't make any changes on this computer or VS2017 or even on this project, apart from updating my OS.
I have tried the following steps and it does not solve my problem.
"UNBLOCK" Solution as mentioned here.
My .RESX files does not have this UNBLOCK option inside its Properties tab. (Windows Explorer).
Furthermore, I have made sure that there are currently no resources (Images or Icons downloaded from the web that are being used in this project) that has any "Unblock" option on their Windows Explorer Property. (There were some with the "Unblock" options highlighted, that I promptly UNBLOCKED).
Interestingly, one of the forms in this project that gets this error, does not have any outside resources on it (plan form), so the theory of using items downloaded from the internet is nullified here.
Under Internet Options -> Security -> Local Intranet Zone -> Sites -> Advanced =
Entered "file://[my computer name]" into "Add this website to the zone:"-> and confirmed the same to be under "Websites:"
Confirmed that the checkbox option "Require server verification (bla bla bla)..." is unticked (not selected).
Deleting and Recreating the .resx file solution as mentioned here.
Backing up the .ResX files to a diff dir -> Deleting the same from the project dir -> Recreating it using notepad (copy/paste info from it's backup) -> Relaunching VS -> Recompiling = Did not fix my issue.
By the way, recently I observed that dragging and dropping (aka mouse copy paste) any files on the ONEDRIVE (source and destination both on the one-drive) throws the following error msg
"These files might be harmful to your computer. Your Internet security settings suggest that one or more files may be harmful. Do you want to use it anyway?".
Since I started seeing this message recently, I am wondering if this and the stuff happening in VS has something to do with the recent Windows Update, which had updates for the Office 2016 Pro Plus along with other updates.
a bit old question, but my solution is using Powershell:
ps> Get-ChildItem -Path '<YOUR-SOLUTION-PATH>' -Recurse | Unblock-File
Today I was able to solve my problem. I knew that the issue had something to do with the "one drive" cloud storage, but I was wrongly suspecting the issue had something to do with the Windows10 recent OS updates.
I realized today that I was not able to locate the work onedrive (1TB) to a physical location on the hard drive with the same title. So, on closer inspection, I realized that not only the work onedrive is missing from it's customized path (under custom user directory (D:\users\"MyUserName"), but also there is this new "Favorites" folder. Upon opening the folder, I was flooder to see it's contents same as my work onedrive folder. That's when the realization hit me, and I recollected a particular incident around the time, where I was amended the default Windows Favorites location to OneDrive (for better continuity and cross platform / device experience).
Now I must have made a mistake in defining the path to Favorites, which would have resulted in the work onedrive being assigned as Favorites.
So, I made the following changes and that solves my problem.
Reverted Favorites location back to default (C:\users\"MyUserName"\Favorites). Right click -> Property -> Location -> Making above changes -> Move -> Option "Don't copy existing files to new location".
Renaming D:\users\"MyUserName"\Favorites -> OneDrive"MyWorkName".
After the above changes, I can now compile the project from the "work onedrive" without any error messages.
Thus, if anyone is ever facing the same problem, and also if the UnBlock solution is not fixing the problem, make sure to check and confirm the path of all customized location, viz all Windows Library and One Drive.
After trying all the solutions listed here and in these:
C# Couldn't process file xxx.resx due to its being in the Internet or Restricted zone or having the mark of the web on the file
OneDrive - Visual Studio 2019 - Couldn't process file Form1.resx due to its being in the Internet or Restricted zone
And still couldn't get it working, I ended up converting the embedded image into a .png file and made a link to that in the .resx. Visual studio does it for you with just 2 clicks as I described in my original comment: https://stackoverflow.com/a/71799430/15001063
I created a C# Website using Visual studio 2015 in my laptop, i copied the same folder to my desktop system and open in Visual studio 2015, when i try to run the application its suddenly gives following error.
The operation could not be completed. The system cannot find the path specified
Anybody feel same error in your latest Visual Studio 2015? I updated all the latest patches.
following trial are done
Re created the soluition file(.sln)
Deleted Web.config and added new one
Still the error exists, so i cant able to debug or run the application.
(1) Run VS as an admin (or elevated access) and open the solution.
(2) Set up a project as Start up Project (if you have multiple proj)
(3) Set up page as start up page.
this should help you run it
Create manually (Windows Explorer if necessary) a folder with name "Service References". Even if the folder does not appear in the Solution Explorer, is there.
Try adding the wsdl (xml) file again.
I had the same problem, resolved by creating a Connected Services folder in my project.
So juste create a Connected Services folder or a Service References folder in your project
I experienced this error. When I shorten the file path of the solution, the error disappear. I think you may put your solution to a folder with too long path name or your solution have some file with too long name.
I got a more specific project-load error message when I removed the project from the solution and tried to re-add it. In my case, it was because the URL/address of the application had changed in my local IIS. When I updated the tag in the .vbproj (or .csproj) file to the new value, then the project loaded successfully.
I have a WPF project that I am ready to deploy using Visual Studio 2012 but I'm running into missing file issues. I've searched for hours to find nothing but incorrect information about VS2k12 not even having ClickOnce support to it being a bug in VS that was claimed to be fixed in an update but people still complain the update didn't fix it.
If I Start the project in VS it runs fine and my test button works as expected.
When I Publish the project, the publish succeeds, running setup.exe installs successfully and program starts to main window fine.
Clicking test button crashes the application on a FileNotFoundException.
Line that causes crash:
streamReader = new StreamReader("ReceiptTemplates/templates.xml");
FileNotFoundException:
Could not find file

The templates.xml file has a Build Action of Content.
Note: There are other folders/files in the ReceiptTemplates folder that are present such as folder/item.html and picture.bmp, just not the templates.xml file that I can tell...
What am I missing?
Thanks to #drch for this:
In my case the ReceiptTemplates/templates.xml file was set to be a "Data File" and not "Include".
Solution:
Right click Project -> Properties -> Publish -> Application Files
Find file causing issue and change it to Include
If it says 'Data File' its in the data folder
If it says 'Include' its in the bin folder
Check in C:\Users\dirt\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\Data for it ;)
I'm getting "System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteException: Unable to open the database file." when I attempt to access the database to save a record upon the "first" opening of my program.
Here's the thing, it works fine when debugging locally in Visual Studio, but stops working when I package the program in an installer, and then install the program somewhere.
I was guessing that it was the location of the database, which I just have set at database.s3db without a path, because it is stored next to the program's exe, but how could that cause problems?
I'm at a loss, any further ideas or suggestions for solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Maybe you are installing the program in a folder which the user doesn't have write permissions so cannot modify the database file.
Please update your DataSource Format like this :
#"C:\Users\Mehmeto\Documents\Visual Studio 2015\Projects\......\bin\myDB.sqlite";
Where the directory points to where your project is located.
I'm working on a moderately sized WebForms project. Due to the peculiarities of management here, I have to upload the site to a remote server in order to test (no localhost testing). I'm using the 'Publish' command in Visual Studio 2008. Sometimes, it even works. Most of the time, I inexplicably get a "publish failed" in the bottom left corner, with no further details.
The few googled articles/forum posts I read suggested making the target local folder for the publish operation readable/writable for everyone. Doesn't help.
Is there are way to get further details as to WHY a publish fails in VS2008, and if not, is there a better way of doing these deployments? I'm spending more time building/pushing to the web server than actually debugging.
It's worth checking the output window. I've just had a publish fail because I had deleted an image outside of VS so VS was complaining that the image couldn't be found, but this information was only displayed in the output window.
See this link for more information:
http://ericfickes.com/2009/08/find-out-why-visual-studios-publish-fails/
It happens to us when there is an error in markup (!). Bad thing is that VS will just swallow the error and just tell you Failed.
What I suggest is to run your publish from command line using MSBuild. It's not that straightforward but it works (once you get into it).
I've since discovered that the reason for these particular publish failures was due the "Delete Existing Files" option being checked. Using Visual Studio 2008 under a non-administrative account on Windows Vista could cause a permissions error while attempting to delete the existing files. The publish would fail silently after encountering a file that Visual Studio had insufficient access to delete. Once the files were deleted manually outside of Vidual Studio, the publish functioned normally.
I have not had this issue with Windows 7; I assume the UAC changes in Windows 7 fixed the problem.
I mostly work with Web Forms, and I encounter this problem daily.
It seems to me that publish fails when it fails to delete a file it is trying to replace. Even if I don't have any files open, it still fails sometimes. Not sure why.
Not only VS publish fails very often, it is painfully slow as well.
I just publish to empty local directory and use separate FTP client to upload files. It's more work, but works.
This is probably not the case for you, but I've seen this happen when I'm publishing a web site. If the app_offline.htm file is not excluded from your project (if you use this file), the publish will fail.
Same happened to me.. what I did was include images files that was not included in the project and delete images that were not used.
After struggling with a similar issue for about 30 mins with no clue as to what was causing it closed down VS and reopened my project. Started working fine. No idea why but it worked.
You should always stop the IIS instance running on the machine your are publishing to. Google the word "iisreset". Other hosting providers like DiscountAsp and Arvixe offer you tools to "Stop" and "Start" your app pool on their IIS remotely. This is very necessary because IIS may have locked some files as "in use", so your publish fails when it tries to write over them. When your publish is complete, then just restart IIS (or press "Start" from a web tool if you're using a 3rd party hosting provider).
When all else fails, check your "Output" window (the tab to the right of your "Error List" at the bottom of Visual Studio). Scroll through all of it after a failed publish and look for anything that says "Unable to add". If you keep seeing the same "Unable to add" errors on the same publish, then ftp into the folder, delete the the problematic files manually, and try publishing again.
I got this when my ProjectName.Publish.xml file was read-only. Once I checked the file out of source control, I no longer got the error and could publish.
Just to add to this thread, I found that, for some bizarre reason, only the Mercurial files were being published to the server, everything else just wasn't being copied across.
Another strange thing was that only the Debug configuration was available; Release was nowhere to be seen.
After reading other threads around S.O., I found that there were many for VS 2010 and 2012, but not much to cover the same problem with 2008.
The fix, I found, was to delete the [solution].suo file and then attempt a publish. That seemed to do the job, though it took a long time to complete.
What I found and work in my case. It is to use a different version of VS.
I recently had the problem, the solution works perfectly in VS2015 build, compile and tested.
However, when I try to publish was failing silently.
So, I closed the solution and open it with VS2017 that use the same file structure for the projects/solutions. Then rebuild it and publish without any problems.
I believe it could be VS related and it is complicated to debug.
This is a workaround if you work with multiple Vs instances in your local machine.
