Apologizes if this topic isnt in the right section, or if this has been already answered in another topic.
I am working with tabs, and have come across a business requirement where a need has arised to create tabs during runtime.
The request is to create a ADD Tab, REMOVE Tab buttons and to x amount of similar controls to be added at run time.
What would be the ideal approach to this - since there might be validations we need to add as well, plus eventually the data pushed to a DB, etc
Is there a sample project out there on codeplex/code gallery that I could take a look at ?
I am working with a windows forms application on VB 2010. C# examples work for me as well. I need a code sample that might guide me, open eneded answers welcomed - it will only help me learn.
Thanks.
AS a starting point. To Add Tabs and controls to Tab use something like.
TabPage tp = new TabPage("New Tabl Page");
TextBox t = new TextBox();
t.Left = 10;
t.Top = 10;
t.Visible = true;
t.Width = 100;
tp.Controls.Add(t);
tabControl1.TabPages.Add(tp);
You might consider creating a template Tab Control so that this could be used over and over again and then think about how you want to bind these controls.

I need to know where I can access the basic code, for example a "NumericUpDown" Element.
What I want to do:
Add Code to my NumericUpDown Element, for example:
Set the "Maximum"-Value to a variable embedded inside my Formclass code.
The Reason why I cant to it right now:
I just can access the NumericUpDown Element just in the Design View right now. There I can Input a value, but can't set it to the amount stored in a variable.
I just know, that If I double click the field, I get a "ValueChanged" Method into my code. But what I need to know: How can I access the "basic" Code of the NumericUpDown Element, where I could set the "Maximum"-Property?
I'm relatively new to programming. And I'm quite overwhelmed with a lot of things... So I COULD google for the problem but it would just take me way to much time.
Since I guess it's an easy answer for you guys, I post it here.
Thanks a lot!
You can access the Control's objects attributes by it's name.
For example:
NumericUpDown1 <- It's the name of your Control
In your C# code you can access all of it's attribtes and methods by puttin a period after it's name:
NumericUpDown1.Maximun = 100;
NumericUpDown1.Width = 250;
NumericUpDown1.Height = 10;
etc. You can serach it by "Control Properties" in google. Luck and effort! :P Remember to try and search a bit before asking. Don't wait for others to make your job. Luck! ^.^
You can access source code of components, but it won't help you. every component has interface and you can use it's interface to interact with it. Also you can override some methods of component to change their behavior.

I'm a very early coder and using c# for desktop to start off and I heard I could code for windows phone using c# but it is so different it makes my head spin.
How do I hide a rectangle called "rctSquare1"? I'm used to typing "rctSquare1.Hide();" but that doesn't work and I cant find any answers...
try
rctSquare1.Visibility = Visibility.Hidden;
Update
What about that?
rctSquare1.Opacity = 0;
Set one of the following Visibility values on your element:
Setting it to Visibility.Hidden will leave empty space in your window where the element was (similar to SomeControl.Hide() in WinForms.
Do not display the element, and do not reserve space for it in layout.
rect.Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed;
Alternatively, Visibility.Collapsed will actually hide the element and collapse the empty space too. If your element is inside a grid, for example, then setting to Collapsed will cause the row to collapse as well (as long as you aren't setting an explicit height on the row, and there aren't any other elements in the row preventing it from collapsing).
Do not display the element, but reserve space for the element in layout.
rect.Visibility = Visibility.Hidden;

Good Day Every one,
Can you help me produce a code to produce pop up window like return confirm? the thing is it should be inside a method not after a click.
if (a == "1")
{
//Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), "messagebox", "<script>$(document).ready( function() { csscody.confirm('<br/><h1> Confirmation</h1><br/> We have currently existing Details for that Upload Proceed?<br/>',{onComplete: function(e){if(e){process();__doPostBack('ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$btnCommitSaving','');}}});return false;});</script>", false);
//ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(typeof(string), "messagebox", "<script language='javascript'>alert('Continue Uploading?.');</script>");
// here a pop up message should appear if he press yes he will do the procedure if no the program will cancel the procedure
// the other one is just an alert with OK button not having Yes or no
}
i tried the code with // but its not working it just passes by it in debug mode.
im sorry but i have a very minimal understanding about javascripts. so please help me any reading materials for my future reference would be ideal but a code with explanation would be better Thank you so much!
**Edit
Honestly Speaking i really do not know why it is not working in debug mode it just passes in that statement without any pop up box that appears, im really sorry if i do not know about javascripts that's why im asking help to enlighten me, also to find a way around about this problem.
ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript
you should only do it on if you want to add the script on page first load and not after you postback and you can use javascript confirm
Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(),
"ButtonClickScript", "confirm('Please select date within the same month and year')", true);

In my project, I need to get the listview containing the data from the back end, If I place the listview in the form and upon clicking a button I can load data, but the requirement is initially the listview should be hidden or not present there, only on clicking the button the listview should be viewed with data. Thank you.
Set the List View's property Visible = Falsein the properity window.
Within the button click event handler set it to true;
listView1.Visible = true;
You use the Visible Property. At the form load, you set it to false and then in the button_click
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
listView1.Visible = true;
}
I think You should use listView1.Hide(); initially in Form constructor
And on button click You should use listView1.show()

Could anyone explain me how the compiler knows to perform appropriate method when we select RadioButtons in this example ?
It's hard to say for sure what you're asking. I think you're asking how the system knows that it should execute the iconType_CheckChanged method when one of the icon radio buttons is clicked, and how it knows that, for example, the asteriskRadioButton changed.
The answer is in two parts. First, in creating the program in Windows Forms, you hooked up the CheckChanged event handler for each of the radio buttons. So the asteriskRadioButton CheckChanged method contains the value iconType_CheckChanged. That information is added to the partial class that you don't usually see. It's in your Form.Designer.cs file in the InitializeComponent method. It looks something like:
this.asteriskRadioButton.CheckChanged += iconType_CheckChanged
You don't typically see the Form.Designer.cs file. To view it, expand the form node in the Visual Studio Solution Explorer and you'll see the file listed:
The second part of the answer is that when you click the radio button (or when some code changes the state of the radio button), the underlying control machinery calls iconType_CheckChanged, passing a reference to the control that triggered the event in the Sender argument.
