I have button created programatically:
Button button = new Button();
ImageBrush background = new ImageBrush();
background.ImageSource = new System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapImage(new Uri(#"Assets/Image1.png", UriKind.Relative));
button.Background = background;
button.Click += button_Click;
Now i when i click on that button i need to remove the default click effect and add my own image, so that when i click on the button the image which i have added should be displayed.
EDIT
The above which had 2 upvotes works but its replacing the background image, but i want both the images to be displayed, onclick only it should add foreground image to my button.
How can i acheive this ?
You need to play with the visual states of a button and you could do it with the help of a style
Just look at the style below
<Style x:Key="style_ColorButton" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilySemiBold}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMediumLarge}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="10,3,10,5"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Button">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBackgroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
<ImageBrush Stretch="Fill" ImageSource="/Images/ColorClicked.png"/>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame.Value>
</DiscreteObjectKeyFrame>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Transparent"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" CornerRadius="0">
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>
</Border>
</Grid>
</ControlTemplate>
</Setter.Value>
</Setter>
</Style>
In the style above VisualState "Pressed" Handles your requirement and I have given an Image source there.
Using this style with a button.
<Button Height="40" Width="40" BorderThickness="0" Name="btnAcceptCrop" Click="btnAcceptCrop_Click" Style="{StaticResource style_ColorButton}" Background="Black" ForeGround="White"/>
setting the style in code
btnAcceptCrop.Style = (Style)App.Current.Resources["style_ColorButton"];
Declaring a style in a Page
Below all the namespace declaration in your page
Just make a tag
<phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
</phone:PhoneApplicationPage.Resources>
and declare your style inside it.
Hope this helps.

I want to apply this transform rule to all checkboxs:
<CheckBox.RenderTransform>
<ScaleTransform ScaleX="0.7" ScaleY="0.7" />
</CheckBox.RenderTransform>
Is there some way that I can put it into app.xaml so that I don't need to write this rule to every checkbox?
Sure, all you have to do is override default checkbox style. Add this code to your App.xaml file in <Application.Resources> section:

I have added scale transformation in checkbox template:

I know, it's a lot of XAML code. But you can easily change any aspect of the checkbox control here.
I am applying style to button with some opacity, but the opacity is begin applied to whole button, but i want opacity like circle only to center of a button
how to modify my code such that i acheive opacitiy only to center.?

You should use an OpacityMask, in your case with a radial gradient brush.
I'm working on Windows Phone 8 C#/XAML .NET 4.5 Application and I've been trying to retemplate/style a PasswordBox, but even though I have general idea how to do it, I can't finish it to my needs.
PROBLEM
The first thing I need to find is proper PasswordBox template for Windows Phone 8. I've found this one[msdn], but it does not work and I don't know how to change it so it would.
QUESTION
Is this template the right one? How to change it so it would "stick"?
Where you getting failed? What errors you are getting while working on it.
The following is the Windows Phone 8 PasswordBox style . I created using Expression Blend.
<Style x:Key="PasswordBoxStyle" TargetType="PasswordBox">
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilyNormal}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMediumLarge}"/>
<Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource PhoneTextBoxBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneTextBoxForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneTextBoxBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="SelectionBackground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneAccentBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="SelectionForeground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneContrastBackgroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="2"/>

<ControlTemplate TargetType="PasswordBox">
<Grid Background="Transparent">

<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">

In WP7 whenever a button is clicked ,the background of button becomes white showing that button is clicked and becomes normal on releasing the mouse button.But I want to change the color of button selection from white to orange.How can i dot it?
You are going to have to play with Visual States of that Button control. Following is the default style for Button extracted from Expression Blend:
<Style x:Key="ButtonStyle1" TargetType="Button">
<Setter Property="Background" Value="Transparent"/>
<Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="Foreground" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
<Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBorderThickness}"/>
<Setter Property="FontFamily" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontFamilySemiBold}"/>
<Setter Property="FontSize" Value="{StaticResource PhoneFontSizeMediumLarge}"/>
<Setter Property="Padding" Value="10,3,10,5"/>
<Setter Property="Template">
<Setter.Value>
<ControlTemplate TargetType="Button">
<Grid Background="Transparent">
<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<VisualStateGroup x:Name="CommonStates">
<VisualState x:Name="Normal"/>
<VisualState x:Name="MouseOver"/>
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneBackgroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneForegroundBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
<VisualState x:Name="Disabled">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="{StaticResource PhoneDisabledBrush}"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Transparent"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
</VisualStateGroup>
</VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>
<Border x:Name="ButtonBackground" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" BorderThickness="{TemplateBinding BorderThickness}" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" CornerRadius="0" Margin="{StaticResource PhoneTouchTargetOverhang}">
<ContentControl x:Name="ContentContainer" ContentTemplate="{TemplateBinding ContentTemplate}" Content="{TemplateBinding Content}" Foreground="{TemplateBinding Foreground}" HorizontalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Padding="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalContentAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}"/>

You will need to change the Pressed visual state to:
(In this case background is changed to Red when the button is pressed)
<VisualState x:Name="Pressed">
<Storyboard>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Foreground" Storyboard.TargetName="ContentContainer">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Red"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="Background" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Red"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
<ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush" Storyboard.TargetName="ButtonBackground">
<DiscreteObjectKeyFrame KeyTime="0" Value="Red"/>
</ObjectAnimationUsingKeyFrames>
</Storyboard>
</VisualState>
If you're developing for Windows phone, Blend is free and it's an incredibly powerful. I would go so far as to say mandatory, I highly recommend you use it. In Blend it's a simple matter of editing the "Pressed" state style.
In Visual studio, in Solution Explorer, right click on your XAML page and select "open in Expression Blend"
Right Click on the button -> Edit Template -> Create Copy (Just choose the defaults for the save dialogue)
Click on the "states" tab: (You'll see a list of all the different visual states the button can have)
Select the "Pressed" state and edit away to your heats content, visually.
And you're done!
Compare that to trying to edit the raw XAML, as you would have to in VS.
You can do this by retemplating the button control in blend.
rclick the control
edit template
edit a copy
modify formatting of constituent components for chosen view states
I am developing window phone 7 application in C#. I am new to the silverlight. I have more than one buttons in my application for different purposes. I am performing the click operation on one of the button amongst these buttons. Now I want to show the selected button to the user on the user interface screen. So I want to highlight that selected button so that the user interface will show that particular clicked button in a different manner than the other button on the screen. Previously I have tried for the following scenario
How to change the background color of button in windows phone application?
Can you please tell how should I highlight the clicked button ? Can you please provide me any code or link through which I can resolve the above issue ? If I am doing anything wrong then please guide me.
It seems like you're looking for the RadioButton functionality on a couple of Buttons. In that case, you can just re-template a RadioButton with the default Button-Template and add the VisualState for Checked. This example will make the Background turn Red for the latest Clicked Button, I hope that's what you're after
<StackPanel>
<RadioButton Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle1}"
GroupName="buttonGroup"
HorizontalContentAlignment="Center"
Content="Some Button"/>
<RadioButton Style="{StaticResource RadioButtonStyle1}"
GroupName="buttonGroup"
HorizontalContentAlignment="Center"
Content="Some Button 2"/>
</StackPanel>
And the RadioButtonStyle1
<Style x:Key="RadioButtonStyle1" TargetType="RadioButton">
