Hi can anyone suggest how to sync a table in sqlCE with a table in sql server.
I currently have a windows application which uses table X from SQL CE to add new records(a form data) and later when it is connected to network I will need it to update all those newly inserted records to the table Y(equal to table X in CE) in sql server.
The sql CE version is 4.0 and it is not connected to server all the time. The sync needs to be done when it is connected to server on a click event.
The sql server is 2012.
How do I achieve this
There are many ways of doing this; which way is best for you depends on things you have not told us, like what edition of SQL Server you are syncing with, whether the app is always connected to SQL Server, whether other apps are also syncing with the same database, and other issues.
I would start by investigating SQL CE Replication with SQL Server Web Syncronization. If that isn't what you want, come back with more detailed requirements.
Use Ms Sync Framework. It can do everything you need to solve this.

I've been researching different solutions for an offline database.
Basically I have a desktop application and I would like it to communicate with a database, without requiring internet connection. So I am looking for a way to ship my app along with a database that the app can work with.
All my DB intercation will happen through Entity Framework, so I need a solution that is compatible with it. So far, I have always used SQL Server Express for my DB, but as far as I know that requires that SQL Server is installed on the user's machine, which is obviously not what I need.
My DB will not need to handle huge amounts of data. (Worst-case would be something around 100,000 - 1,000,000 rows of data in the DB).
From what I am reading I found that SQLite, and SQL Server CE and a feature of SQL Server called LocalDB might do the job for me. (SQL Server CE is no longer supported my Microsoft, so I am guessing its not a good idea)
I was wondering if I am on the right track here? Is this the way to go, or is there a way to embed my SQL Server Express into my app.
SQL Server Compact and SQLite can both run as embedded and work with EF (SQL Ce much better than SQLite)
LocalDB might also be an option, requires admin access to install (not during runtime)
I have a Windows Forms program that uses SQL Server Express with basic DataGridView bindings that were created by dragging and dropping the data sources on the forms.
Now I want to use SQL Server CE instead of SQL Server.
What's the best way to do this?
I've already migrated the database to SQL Server CE.
Provide your classes/functions with base ado.net classes (e.g. DbConnection) and store the connection string somewhere easy the modify (App.config).
Also take care when migrating the SQL code, although in your case, you'll probably won't have that much SQL code to change.
I want my application to create database in the user's computer. The database would be simple, with only one table. Is this possible? What would be in the connection string? Should the user have installed some kind of server?
I suggest you take a look at SQL CE - it is an embedded database which you can distribute with your application.
Microsoft SQL Server Compact (SQL CE) is a compact relational database produced by Microsoft for applications that run on mobile devices and desktops.
I have a project that currently uses a SQL Server database on the shared hosting server that I pay for monthly. I want to migrate my schema from there to a new SQL Server CE database in my solution. Is there an easy way to do this?
I can't see a way to do this without manually re-creating the entire thing. It's a decently sized schema, but it's not very complicated. It's just tables with some foreign keys here and there, nothing fancy.
Anyone know how to migrate down from a regular SQL Server database to a SQL Server CE database?
http://exportsqlce.codeplex.com/
It can script SQL Server databases for running on CE.
I need to sync SQL server database with the Interbase DB. Interbase is the live DB and main application works on this. Now customer wants to create an SQL server database and sync it with the live interbase database once everyday. I want to create an application, which can be scheduled to compare both Interbase and SQL Server databases and merge the SQL Server with all changes from the Interbase Server. Is there any way to do this using c# .Net?
Have a look at the Microsoft Sync framework - it's designed to do what you want, though not sure if there's a plug in for Interbase.
