I am trying to fill a datagridview with content from a .mdf SQL Server database file (C# Windows Forms app)...
private void Companies_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
load_table();
}
void load_table()
{
String DATA = Application.StartupPath + #"\data.mdf";
string constring = #"Data Source=(LocalDB)\v11.0;AttachDbFilename=" + DATA + ";Integrated Security=True";
MySqlConnection conDataBase = new MySqlConnection(constring);
MySqlCommand cmdDataBase = new MySqlCommand("select * from Companies ;", conDataBase);
try
{
MySqlDataAdapter sda = new MySqlDataAdapter();
sda.SelectCommand = cmdDataBase;
DataTable dbdataset = new DataTable();
sda.Fill(dbdataset);
BindingSource bSource = new BindingSource();
bSource.DataSource = dbdataset;
dataGridView1.DataSource = bSource;
sda.Update(dbdataset);
}
catch (Exception uu)
{
MessageBox.Show(uu.Message);
}
}
I get nothing. DataGridView is empty. No errors...
Table name: Companies with 4 rows and 1 column...
I tried SQL statements like
select * from dbo.Companies ;
... still nothing
I changed data.mdf connection to full path c:/etc/etc ...
No luck.
Any simple solution is welcome :)
.mdf is a SQL Server data file, therefore you need to use the SQL Server client library, e.g. SqlConnection, SqlCommand and SqlDataAdapter.
What you're using now (MySqlConnection, MySqlCommand, MySqlDataAdapter) is for MySQL and won't work on a (Microsoft) SQL Server data file.

I am trying to make c# program, where I have to make a database report to be previewed at the datagridview. Data will be selected using the datetimepicker. I have written the code, it works but then if the date selected is of different months. No records appear
void FilterDBbtnClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
MySqlConnection conn = new MySqlConnection();
conn = new MySqlConnection(cs);
string data = "SELECT `Date`, `Process`, `Actual`, `Target` FROM `database` WHERE `Date` BETWEEN '"+this.fromDatePicker.Value+"' AND '"+this.toDatePicker.Value+"' order by `Date` desc";
MySqlCommand cmd = new MySqlCommand(data, conn);
cmd.Connection.Open();
try
{
MySqlDataAdapter sda = new MySqlDataAdapter();
sda.SelectCommand = cmd;
DataSet dt = new DataSet();
sda.Fill(dt);
BindingSource bsource = new BindingSource();
bsource.DataSource = dt;
mondeDataTable.DataSource = dt.Tables[0];
sda.Update(dt);
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
}
cmd.Connection.Close();
}
please help me check my code and tell me what might be wrong or missing.
Use profiler to check the query that hits the DB. I suspect it's a date formatting issue.
Maybe this question can help you with logging the queries that hit the database:
Hope this helps:
Select * from [Table] where StartDate between '06/13/2016' and '10/13/2016'
The above query fetches records between months 06 and 10. Make sure that string in the data variable is in the above format. Also the column type in the database is date.
Check and remove special characters, if any.
Mark this as answer if you find this useful.
Try this for your select query. I have changed one of your select variable because it ambiguous for the Date datatype.
void FilterDBbtnClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
MySqlConnection conn = new MySqlConnection();
conn = new MySqlConnection(cs);
//string data = "SELECT `Date`, `Process`, `Actual`, `Target` FROM `database` WHERE `Date` BETWEEN '"+this.fromDatePicker.Value+"' AND '"+this.toDatePicker.Value+"' order by `Date` desc";
//Changed query for getting data from DB according to the date
string data = "SELECT CreatedDate, Process, Actual, Target FROM database WHERE DATE_FORMAT(CreatedDate,'%Y-%m-%d') BETWEEN '"+this.fromDatePicker.Value.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd")+"' AND '"+this.toDatePicker.Value.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd")+"' order by CreatedDate desc";
MySqlCommand cmd = new MySqlCommand(data, conn);
cmd.Connection.Open();
try
{
MySqlDataAdapter sda = new MySqlDataAdapter();
sda.SelectCommand = cmd;
DataSet dt = new DataSet();
sda.Fill(dt);
BindingSource bsource = new BindingSource();
bsource.DataSource = dt;
mondeDataTable.DataSource = dt.Tables[0];
sda.Update(dt);
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
Console.WriteLine(ex.Message);
}
cmd.Connection.Close();
}
I wish to load the datatable from database to data grid view,but I get the error saying "The operation & method is not implemented". I do review the video over here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sm5mxkytfWk; This is my very first time to do this, hope to get to solve it.
Below is my code:
private void button1_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
string constring = #"Data Source=(LocalDB)\v11.0;AttachDbFilename=C:\Users\oo\Documents\Data.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30";
MySqlConnection conDataBase = new MySqlConnection(constring);
MySqlCommand cmdDataBase = new MySqlCommand("SELECT* from Data.itemInfo;", conDataBase);
try
{
MySqlDataAdapter sda = new MySqlDataAdapter();
sda.SelectCommand = cmdDataBase;
DataTable dbdataset = new DataTable();
sda.Fill(dbdataset);
BindingSource bSource = new BindingSource();
bSource.DataSource = dbdataset;
dataGridView1.DataSource = bSource;
sda.Update(dbdataset);
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(ex.Message);
}
}
MySqlCommand cmdDataBase = new MySqlCommand("SELECT* from Data.itemInfo;", conDataBase);
yours Sql query contain extra semicolen
from
SELECT* from Data.itemInfo;
to
SELECT* from Data.itemInfo
How to: Bind Data to the Windows Forms DataGridView Control
i have problem with sqlite !
in my c# app i using a little database based on sqlite, i can select and see database data but the problem is that and when i try to insert a record into the table i see it in the program and it's worked well but and added to my DB but when i close the program and open the DB nothing saved :( and when i'm using my app this seems it's added to database but in realtime i'm using firefox addons to see database or when close and open app nothing saved.
SQLiteConnection ObjConnection = new SQLiteConnection("Data Source=Data/data.db3;");

SQLiteDataAdapter ObjDataAdapter = new SQLiteDataAdapter(ObjCommand);

It seems a problem with the connection String, SQLite would be using in your case a temporary database. Temporary Databases are automatically deleted when the connection that created them closes.
Data Source=Data/data.db3;
Just to discard my solution, could you try with an exiting absolute path (c:\Data):
Data Source=c:\\Data\\data.db3;
all i did is just create a reportViewer in the form, then i have this code:
SqlConnection cn = new SqlConnection(#"Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=G:\I.S\C#\billingSystem\Store.mdf;Integrated Security=True;Connect Timeout=30;User Instance=True");
private void Form1_Load()
{
runRptViewer();
cn.Open();
}
private void rptGetDataset()
{
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
ds.DataSetName = "dsNewDataSet";
SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM NewBill", cn);
ds.GetXmlSchema();
da.Fill(ds);
ds.WriteXmlSchema(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Dataset1.xsd");
ds.WriteXml(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Dataset1.xml");
}
private DataTable getData()
{
DataSet dss = new DataSet();
SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM NewBill", cn);
da.Fill(dss);
DataTable dt = dss.Tables["NewBill"];
return dt;
}
private void runRptViewer()
{
this.reportViewer2.Reset();
//this.ReportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = Server.MapPath("Report.rdlc");
this.reportViewer2.LocalReport.ReportPath =(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Report1.rdlc");
ReportDataSource rds = new ReportDataSource("dsNewDataSet_NewBill", getData());
this.reportViewer2.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear();
this.reportViewer2.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(rds);
//this.reportViewer2.DataBind();
this.reportViewer2.LocalReport.Refresh();
}
}
i have two reportViewer the reportViewer1 work but in case the directory of the db has change it will not work, so thats why i try in another reportViewer, to make it work even if the directory of the db changed, i can just change the Connection string.
The problem is the report don't show anything, i think the problem in the code:
//this.ReportViewer1.LocalReport.ReportPath = Server.MapPath("Report.rdlc");
this is a windows form so there is no server, ive change it to:
this.reportViewer2.LocalReport.ReportPath =(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Report1.rdlc");
and this one dont work:
//this.reportViewer2.DataBind();
i cant understand this two lines, does it mean to create a Dataset1.xsd and Dataset1.xml, or just edit them.
ds.WriteXmlSchema(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Dataset1.xsd");
ds.WriteXml(#"G:\I.S\Testoooooooo\Testoooooooo\Dataset1.xml");
if possible i need a steps from creating every thing to codding that will be great.
How did you create your dataset? Is it SQL or from Objects in memory?
If you havent created a dataset, you do need to create one before the report can work properly. This might help: http://shrutikapoor-ubc.blogspot.com/2013/05/using-business-objects-in-report-viewer.html
To use the report viewer in your C# WinForm project add the following code to a button or inthe form_load:
string strConnectionString = "Data Source=(local);Initial Catalog=Projects_DB;Integrated Security=True";
DataSet ds = new DataSet();
SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter();
SqlCommand cmd = new SqlCommand("sp_GetProject " + "'0660CAD6-6F1A-4D19-A1FD-17BF3655AC98'");
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
cmd.Connection = new SqlConnection (strConnectionString);
da.SelectCommand = cmd;
da.Fill(ds,"DataSet1");
reportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Local;
reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Clear();
reportViewer1.LocalReport.DataSources.Add(new ReportDataSource("DataSet1", ds.Tables[0]));
reportViewer1.LocalReport.Refresh();
reportViewer1.RefreshReport();
Assuming that you have a stored procedure that accepts #ProjectID parameter. You have to set the cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text if you pass these parameters along with the sql command. However, if you don't want to pass parameters just change the commandType to cmd.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure.
Below is the stored procedure used in this example:
CREATE PROC [dbo].[sp_GetProject]
#ProjectID nvarchar(50)=NULL
AS
BEGIN
SELECT ProjectID, ProjectName FROM Projects
WHERE
(#ProjectID IS NULL) OR (ProjectID = #ProjectID)
END
Microsoft has a pretty good walkthrough here...

I'm trying show a DataGrid in C# (for app WindowsMobile). I have a database ("pruebaDB.sdf") in DataConnections and one table ("tablaMercancia").
Also in DataSource I have "pruebaDBDataSet" and "tablaMercancia".
How I can show data table in a DataGrid?
I use a SmartDevice project (I can't to use DataGridView, only I use DataGrid).
I can show a new table (created for code) in a DataGrid, but I don't know to show an existing table in my database.
string conSTR = "Data Source=" + (System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase)) + "\\pruebaDB.sdf;Persist Security Info=False";
SqlCeConnection connection = new SqlCeConnection(conSTR);
string sql = "SELECT * FROM tablaMercancia";
connection.Open();
SqlCeCommand cmd = new SqlCeCommand(sql, connection);
SqlCeDataAdapter da = new SqlCeDataAdapter(cmd);
//...............
//...Any idea?
//...............
connection.Close();
Any ideas please?
Thanks!!!
Please, Change Datagridview name as per below :
string conSTR = "Data Source=" + (System.IO.Path.GetDirectoryName(System.Reflection.Assembly.GetExecutingAssembly().GetName().CodeBase)) + "\\pruebaDB.sdf;Persist Security Info=False";
SqlCeConnection connection = new SqlCeConnection(conSTR);
string sql = "SELECT * FROM tablaMercancia";
connection.Open();
SqlCeCommand cmd = new SqlCeCommand(sql, connection);
SqlCeDataAdapter da = new SqlCeDataAdapter(cmd);
DataSet ds=new DataSet();
da.Fill(ds);
//datagridview1 is name of datagridview in form:
datagridview1.DataSource=ds.Tables[0];
connection.Close();
Try this.
string sql = "SELECT * FROM tablaMercancia";
connection.Open();
//SqlCeCommand cmd = new SqlCeCommand(sql, connection);
SqlCeDataAdapter da = new SqlCeDataAdapter(sql, connection);
DataSet ds=new DataSet();
da.Fill(ds);
designing page track the gridview or data grid
1st use namespace using System.Data,SqlClient;
sqlconnection con=new sqlconnection("string path");
con.open();
sqldataadapter da=new sqldataadapter("select * from emp",con);
dataset ds=new dataset();
da.fill(ds,"emp");
gridview1.datasource=ds;
gridview1.databind();
