Please tell me how to hide the window to connect to the published application via RDP (remote app). Ie when I open rdp file through the function Process() my process run hidden, but unfortunately this process close immediately, and run new copy mststc.exe But it state is not hidden :(
private const string Arg = "C:\\RDP\\myapp.rdp";
private const string FileName = "mstsc";
private Process _myProcess = new Process();
...
myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = sFileName;
myProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = arg;
myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
myProcess.StartInfo.CreateNoWindow = true;
myProcess.StartInfo.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden;
myProcess.Start();
Process mstsc = Process.GetProcessesByName(sFileName)[0];
mstsc.Id not equal myProcess.Id
I see that for first time run first copy mstsc.exe (i think processed/parse file), then for second time run ssecond copy mstsc.exe and first copy was killed

What I want todo:
I want to start a built console application (AppB) from within another console application (AppA). AppA starts AppB without any arguments. All AppB does is to go into its Main() Method and call Console.ReadLine().
Now I want that AppA sends a string of data over to AppB's Console.ReadLine(). Is this even possibel? (I know I can send streams to a new Console.exe but that's not what I need.)
You need to use RedirectStandardInput:
Process myProcess = new Process();
myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "someconsoleapp.exe";
myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
myProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardInput = true;
myProcess.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
myProcess.StartInfo.ErrorDialog = false;
myProcess.Start();
StreamWriter stdInputWriter = myProcess.StandardInput;
StreamReader stdOutputReader = myProcess.StandardOutput;
stdInputWriter.WriteLine(password);
var op = stdOutputReader.ReadLine();
// close this - sending EOF to the console application - hopefully well written
// to handle this properly.
stdInputWriter.Close();
// Wait for the process to finish.
myProcess.WaitForExit();
myProcess.Close();
I am trying to run the process with different user. When I run normal "notepad.exe" it works fine. But when I change the file to any other executable with full path(C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Office\\Office15\\Excel.exe) or (C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat Reader DC\\Reader\\AcroRd32.exe) it doesn't work. Instead gives errors like attached in pic.
Any suggestions...??
static void Main(string[] args)
{
SecureString securePwd = new SecureString();
string password = "P#ssw0rd";
SecureString sec_pass = new SecureString();
Array.ForEach(password.ToArray(), sec_pass.AppendChar);
sec_pass.MakeReadOnly();
Process p = new Process();
ProcessStartInfo ps = new ProcessStartInfo();
p.StartInfo.FileName = "notepad.exe";
p.StartInfo.Arguments = "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat Reader DC\\Reader\\welcome.pdf";
p.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat Reader DC\\Reader\\";
p.StartInfo.ErrorDialog = true;
p.StartInfo.EnvironmentVariables.Add("TempPath", "C:\\Temp");
p.StartInfo.Domain = "testdom";
p.StartInfo.UserName = "testuser";
p.StartInfo.Password = sec_pass;
p.StartInfo.RedirectStandardError = false;
p.StartInfo.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
p.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
p.Start();
StreamReader myStreamReader = p.StandardOutput;
// Read the standard error of net.exe and write it on to console.
Console.WriteLine(myStreamReader.ReadLine());
p.Close();
}
Notepad doesn't store any user-specific settings. I'm certain all of the Office products do, and it wouldn't surprise me if Acrobat does too.
So, first thing to fix is to make sure that your ProcessStartInfo sets LoadUserProfile to true. That may be sufficient.
However, sometimes applications also act quite differently when run for the first time versus any subsequent launches, so I'd also make sure that you have, at least once, launched each of these applications as the intended target user, whilst you're actually logged onto the machine as that user (versus just launching a single process as that user).
In your code example your trying to open a pdf document in notepad.
Just checking, what happens when you change the file name to the adobe exe (you may need to add the path to the exe) instead of notepad.exe
Trying to call a perl script from my c# app. The perl script has a prompt that requires the user to enter something into it. I can't seem to get it to display. This is the function i use to call it. I have another function that sets the System.Enviroment.SetEnvironmtVariable to have the path of "C:\Perl\bin\;" along with other ones needed for other process'
private void getRevisionAndUpdate()
{
Process myProcess = new Process();
myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe";
myProcess.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = #"the directory that has the perl script";
myProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = #"/c SaidPerlScript.pl";
myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
myProcess.Start();
myProcess.WaitForExit();
}
as i said before it seems to run, but it will either just open the script in a notepad or do nothing at all. Also should note i've tried running cmd.exe and perl.exe. cmd seems to open it in notepad and perl doesn't display the prompt it should.
Not quite sure why you're trying to run cmd.exe, but it works if you run it via perl.exe (my script is called a.pl and prints hello):
static void Main(string[] args)
{
Process myProcess = new Process();
myProcess.StartInfo.FileName = "perl.exe";
myProcess.StartInfo.WorkingDirectory = #".\";
myProcess.StartInfo.Arguments = #"a.pl";
myProcess.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = false;
myProcess.Start();
myProcess.WaitForExit();
}
and it also correctly reads STDIN. For reference this is a.pl:
print("Hello\n");
my $a = <STDIN>;
print "You entered " . $a . "\n";
I'm trying to make my program to run a bat file, that launches an exe file. It works fine on my local computer, but doesn't work on the server IIS. It doesn't work regardless of whether I specify the username and password in the ProcessStartInfo or not. I've searched forums and applied different stuff, but none of them help.
In Windows event viewer it doesn't give me any errors as well as the process output. If I change a directory and it can't find the bat file, the output gives me an error, but when it finds the file, it doesn't return anything and just doesn't launch the program.
Now, if I provide a credentials for the process, specifying psi.Domain, psi.UserName and psi. Password, the StandartOutput doesn't return any error, but Windows Events gives me two following errors:
Application popup: cmd.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.
And
Application popup: conhost.exe - Application Error : The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close the application.
Here's the code:
System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo psi = new System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo(#"C:\inetpub\CopyToAD\pspasswd\passchange.bat");
psi.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
psi.RedirectStandardInput = true;
psi.RedirectStandardError = true;
psi.CreateNoWindow = true;
psi.WindowStyle = System.Diagnostics.ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden;
psi.UseShellExecute = false;
System.Diagnostics.Process listFiles;
listFiles = new System.Diagnostics.Process();
listFiles.EnableRaisingEvents = false;
listFiles.StartInfo = psi;
listFiles.Start();
System.IO.StreamReader myOutput = listFiles.StandardOutput;
listFiles.WaitForExit(2000);
myOutput.ReadToEnd();
string output = myOutput.ReadToEnd();
ViewBag.View6 += output + "***";
if (listFiles.HasExited)
{
output = myOutput.ReadToEnd();
ViewBag.View6 += output;
}
I am new to C# so please sorry if i make no sense in my question. In my application which is C# DLL need to open command prompt, give a plink command for Linux system to get a system related string and set that string as environment variable. I am able to do this when i create C# console application, using plink command to get the string on command prompt and use to set it environment variable using process class in C# to open plink as separate console process. But, in C# DLL i have to open cmd.exe 1st and then give this command which i don't know how can i achieve? I tried through opening cmd.exe as process and then trying to redirect input and output to process and give command and get string reply, but no luck. Please let me know any other way to solve this.
Thanks for answers,
Ashutosh
Thanks for your quick replys. It was my mistake in writing code sequence. Now few changes and the code is working like charm. Here is code,
string strOutput;
//Starting Information for process like its path, use system shell i.e. control process by system etc.
ProcessStartInfo psi = new ProcessStartInfo(#"C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe");
// its states that system shell will not be used to control the process instead program will handle the process
psi.UseShellExecute = false;
psi.ErrorDialog = false;
// Do not show command prompt window separately
psi.CreateNoWindow = true;
psi.WindowStyle = ProcessWindowStyle.Hidden;
//redirect all standard inout to program
psi.RedirectStandardError = true;
psi.RedirectStandardInput = true;
psi.RedirectStandardOutput = true;
//create the process with above infor and start it
Process plinkProcess = new Process();
plinkProcess.StartInfo = psi;
plinkProcess.Start();
//link the streams to standard inout of process
StreamWriter inputWriter = plinkProcess.StandardInput;
StreamReader outputReader = plinkProcess.StandardOutput;
StreamReader errorReader = plinkProcess.StandardError;
//send command to cmd prompt and wait for command to execute with thread sleep
inputWriter.WriteLine("C:\\PLINK -ssh root#susehost -pw opensuselinux echo $SHELL\r\n");
Thread.Sleep(2000);
// flush the input stream before sending exit command to end process for any unwanted characters
inputWriter.Flush();
inputWriter.WriteLine("exit\r\n");
// read till end the stream into string
strOutput = outputReader.ReadToEnd();
//remove the part of string which is not needed
int val = strOutput.IndexOf("-type\r\n");
strOutput = strOutput.Substring(val + 7);
val = strOutput.IndexOf("\r\n");
strOutput = strOutput.Substring(0, val);
MessageBox.Show(strOutput);
I explained the code so far..., thanks a lot
