Windows Phone in-app products - c#

I've started creating a C# Windows Phone (Silverlight) app. I would really like to include in-app products. I've followed the tutorial: Tutorial
I've managed to add all the in-app products to my app. Just to test it, I've added a free in-app product. But when I click the download button in my app, I get an error message. My code is exactly the same as the above tutorial at the moment. I will change the code after fixing this error.
Error message
Service not available
The Store isn't available at the moment.
Please check back in a bit.
Inquiring minds may find this error code helpful: 805a01f4
I've googled the error code. According to the Microsoft website, I have to try again later. I've been trying for 3 days. But I am able to download apps from the store.
What I'm I doing wrong?

some people solved the problem by changing the APP-ID in the AppManifest.xml and WMAppManifest.xml to the one given in the dashboard.

For me this solution didn't work, but maybe for you?

What to use to make a Paypal Payment in Windows Phone 8.1

I need to make a simple paypal payment from my Windows Phone app.
I used to use PayPal's Windows 8 SDK, but it has been discontinued so I can't even get the old SDK from the official github page (http://paypal.github.io/Windows8SDK/).
The other options seems to require an integration on a web page.
I've tried looking at similar questions on S.O. but they're either outdated, or where before / while there still was the Windows 8 SDK, so they're not valid anymore.
Upon further inspection, it would seem the SOAP API don't work because importing them won't generate PayPalAPIAASoapBinding(same behaviour as a Console application, which I fixed importing an old Web Reference, which is not possible on WP) and REST APIs rely on Paypal nuGet package which can't be used in Windows Phone (https://developer.paypal.com/docs/api/).
I am currently at a loss for options (Except to set up an external website to do the job).
Having faced all the aforementioned problems (I still don't know why Paypal pulled the plug for Windows Phone support), I found a workaround.
I generated a Paypal Buy Now button
(https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/get-started-payment-buttons), the unencrypted & non account saved version.
I copied the code in an html file within my app and used some markers on the hidden fields that interested me (description of the product, amount, shipping costs, etc.).
From my previous page the user will select the product details he wants to purchase, such details will be passed to another page in which I have among other things a WebBrowser control.
I will replace the markers with the details passed from the previous page and load the html in the WebBrowser.
The user can then proceed with the purchase.
I am considering about making this into an open source plugin / library to make things easier for the fellow developers hit by my same issue, will update this with the link if I find the time to do so.
Unfortunately with PayPal discontinuing the WIN8 SDK, the only available solution as of now is to setup a website integration, and embedding the page with your webbrowser kit in your WIN8 APP.
Just so you know the existing WIN SDK API integration is still being supported, you may refer here for a backup git of the WIN8 SDK library.

Facebook OAuth Unable to Connect

I have been trying to create an iOS App using Xamarin (i.e. using Xamarin.iOS on C#) and I have run into an error I can't seem to resolve.
Basically, I have entered all the (correct) details into the default Facebook iOS SDK object as directed in the sample documents. However whenever I click login, the page returns 'unable to connect to server'.
The (URL Decoded) link the SDK sends me to is listed below:
https://m.facebook.com/v2.3/dialog/oauth?client_id=(ID-REDACTED)&default_audience=friends&display=touch&e2e={"init":REDACTED }&redirect_uri=fb-ID-REDACTED://authorize/&response_type=token,signed_request&return_scopes=true&scope=&sdk=ios&sdk_version=4.2.0&state={"REDACTED":"REDACTED= ","0_auth_logger_id":"REDACTED","com.facebook.sdk_client_state":true,"3_method":1}
Pointing to this in a browser returns me to a blank page (when I enter in my ID which I have removed from the link above). I'm pretty certain this is due to an error in the way I have set up my application on Facebook as opposed to an error with the SDK (I'm using the default provided by Xamarin). I have removed the app from Sandbox Mode as directed and I have tried to follow the instructions provided on a couple of forum posts but nothing has changed and I am at a loss right now...
Any advice?
Thanks!
Turns out I've managed to solve my issue...
For some really odd reason, m.facebook.com and facebook.com were added as entries in the hosts file (meaning that they were essentially blocked domains). This was weird given that I could access facebook from standard browsers like safari/firefox (just not the safari browser in the simulator).
If you have a similar issue, please change the hosts file (follow some tutorials online).

Access Android in-app purchase info with asp.net c#

I currently have an app on the Android Google Play market which has a few in app purchases available.
I am looking to add another one which would be a subscription to give them extra functionality not only in the Android app, but also on my website too.
The availability of the feature on the website would be tied into the Android app and if the stop subscribing in the app then I would want to stop access on the website too.
Is there a way to check if they have purchased an in app upgrade using asp.net (preferably with c#, however open to other methods) and if so could you point me in the right direction as to what I need to do please?
My attempts at Googling this has returned no results so I am not sure if this is possible or if my Googling is just rubbish!
Thanks.

Windows Store App - Test In-App Purchase

I'm working on a Windows Store app. This app allows the user to pay for an upgrade in the app. The upgrade simply removes the advertisements (for now). I submitted my app for certification. However, it failed. I suspect the reason it failed is because of 1.2 (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh694083.aspx).
More specifically, I believe its because I did not provide a way for testers to test purchases. My question is, how do I do that? The certification doesn't say anything about that. But the certification report I received said a possible reason for failure was: "Can users make purchases through the app? If so, you need to provide a way to test those purchases.".
My app does not require a username/password, so I don't have a way of identifying the user. How do I know its a tester to allow them to test purchases.
Maybe they mean you should provide a step-by-step description of how to find your Upgrade button and test the additional functionality of your App?
The Microsoft test team needs to verify that your Upgrade features are working properly.
In your case you would have to write something like this in the App Store Description:
Go to into the main menu and click the Upgrade button.
As you can see, all advertisements are removed from the app.
Places that have advertisements before buying the Upgrade:
Welcome screen

Getting started with Windows Azure

I'm going to sound like a complete newbie here but here goes...
I've just signed up for a Windows Azure account and was hoping to get a simple hello world aspx page up and running in a browser to see how it all works but I can't seem to find a simple guide to getting a very simple web application running.
I've got as far as setting up a "service" and going onto the "deploy" page but it's asking me upload an "application package".
I've looked on MSDN but there aren't any simple guides, just reams of documentation talking about "roles" and "development fabric". For somebody that is proficient in HTML/CSS and knows a little abit about asp.net it may just as well be in another language.
So, does anybody know how to upload a simple aspx page and then access it in a browser?
Jon
Make sure you're careful with your app as well. Leaving a simple HelloWorld app running 24/7 for 1 month could cost you approx $85 in fees.
($0.12/hr x 24hr x 30days = $86.40)

Does this guide help you? It seems pretty detailed for what you're looking for.
Note: When you're looking at helping documentation, I strongly urge you to focus mostly on documentation/posts dated AFTER November, 2009. It was about then that Microsoft made and released some major changes to Azure. Anything older than that might be outdated and unhelpful.
Download and install
1. Windows Azure SDK: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=130232
2. Windows Azure Tools for Visual Studio: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=128752
Request a Token: http://www.microsoft.com/azure
After getting the token create an application: https://lx.azure.microsoft.com
Open visual studio: new –> project –> Cloud Services –> Web Cloud Service
Write hello world code in the Default.aspx page (be creative)
Right click on your Service project (Not the _WebRole) and select publish.
Select Deploy and Upload you package and configurations
Select Run.

An application package is simply an encrypted zip of your project here is a good guide to get you started.
Looks like others have covered things quite well. I just want to add two blog posts that I put up recently, specifically related to managing your account and understanding the true cost of web roles and worker roles:
First: How to correctly set up your account to use the MSDN Premium offering (assuming you have an MSDN Premium account.
Next: The true cost of web and worker roles. This one post could save you a LOT of money. Andrew Lewis already pointed you to the pricing, but this post will illustrate how costs accrue even when your app is not running.
I found that the Windows Azure Platform Training Kit was pretty helpful when I was getting started. It is simple step by step hands on stuff.
