The resource cannot be found AJAX MVC 4 (WebApi) - c#

var url = '#Url.Action("UploadFilesToDropBox", "Home")';
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: url,
data: postData,
success: function (result) {
if (result == "Success")
{
AfterCreationOfFiles(selected,SelectedFormat);
}
}, dataType: "json",
traditional: true
});
I am using above function to call an ActionResult, On localhost my function runs smoothly. But when i runs it on Server, it gives me the following Error:
The resource cannot be found.
i accidentally added WebApi, May be that is causing the Error?

Ajax function failing to hit method on code behind on server

I have the following ajax function
var jsonId = JSON.stringify(sortedIDs);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: { ids: jsonId },
datatype: "json",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "/Intranet/Dev/TestSortTable.aspx/GetData",
success: function (msg) {
alert(msg.d + "success");
},
error: function (response) {
alert("an error has occured");
}
});
And the following method in the code behind page
[WebMethod]
public static string GetData(string[] data)
{
return "this is the string from the code behind file";
}
The error I am getting is a 500 internal server error. If I add .cs to the TestSortTable.aspx I get a 404 not found error. This is the first time I have implemented an Ajax function and I am at a loss as to what I have done wrong. I should add that sortedIDs is defined elsewhere.
You're not sending the parameters as JSON. You're converting sortedIDs to JSON, but being wrapped into an object that gets sent as URL-encoded data. You need to do:
var json = JSON.stringify({data: sortedIDs);
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
data: json,
dataType: "json",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "/Intranet/Dev/TestSortTable.aspx/GetData",
success: function (msg) {
alert(msg.d + "success");
},
error: function (response) {
alert("an error has occured");
}
});
Also, datatype: should be dataType:

jQuery Calls to .NET WebMethod Working Out of Order

I am using lot of .NET WebMethod calls in my web application using jQuery. My calls are not working in the expected order. The first time the page loads it works fine, and after reloading the page, the WebMethod calls are disordered. How do I make it always work one by one in the expected order?
I am using jQuery $.ajax():
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "",
data: '',
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function (response) { },
error: function (msg) { alert(msg.error); }
});
Add async: false option in ajax. By default Ajax make async call hence order is not guaranteed.
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
async : false, // Add this
url: "",
data: '',
contentType: "application/json;
charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function (response) { },
error: function (msg) { alert(msg.error); }
});

ASP.NET + jQuery AJAX - getting 500 server error

I want to call an ASP.NET function from jQuery by AJAX with response.
I have file Controll.aspx where is included javascript code. Next I have /Services/ControllService.asmx, where is the function, which I want call from js.
js code:
$(document).ready(function () {
$('#btn_start').on('click', function () {
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "Services/ControllService.asmx/Start",
data: {},
dataType: "json",
async: true,
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
success: function (response) {
console.log(response);
},
error: function (err) {
alert("Error:" + err.toString());
}
});
});
});
But I still getting the error 500.
POST http://localhost:56000/Services/ControllService.asmx/Start 500 (Internal Server Error)
k.cors.a.crossDomain.send
n.extend.ajax
Do you have any hints, what do I need to set e.g. in Web.config?
Many thanks.
SOLVED:
1 - I have defined Start function in ControllService.asmx.cs as static.
2 - I have badly configured data. It has to be named by the same way e.g. "sth".
In javascript it should be:
...
url: "Services/ControllService.asmx/Start",
data: JSON.stringify({ sth: "hahaha" }),
dataType: "json",
...
and in ControllService.asmx.cs -> method Start
public string Start(string sth){}
Many, many thanks for your hints.

Ajax URL - Incorrect .net #c

Been following some tutorials, as i'm learning C#, however was just attempting to make an ajax call to the server, i'm using my localhost.
As far as I can tell i'm doing its right, but it's obviously not.
Maybe it my folder structure or just the name of the file.
The Default.aspx file is at the project root
Here is my ajax call
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "Default.aspx",
dataType: "json",
data: "{'FirstName':'test','LastName':'test1','City':'test3','EmailID':'test4'}",
success: function (data) {
console.log("Woo!");
},
error: function (result) {
console.log("fail!");
}
});
I know eventually it will have to call a method within the file, but its not even finding it at the moment.
Thanks in advance, James
You can use controller Home and create the one action.
Example:
public ActionResult FirstAjax()
{
return Json(true, JsonRequestBehavior.AllowGet);
}
After that your jquery ajax is:
$.ajax({
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
url: "Home/FirstAjax",
dataType: "json",
data: "",
success: function (data) {
console.log("Woo!");
},
error: function (result) {
console.log("fail!");
}
});

.JQuery .ajax how do I call WCF method with return value?

I have been able to call WCF methods with .ajax. How do I call a method that returns a value? I need to call this method to see if data is ready and if not wait one second. The WCF method is:
[OperationContract]
[WebGet]
public bool IsDataReady(string requestGUID)
{
if (Global.publicDataDictionary.Keys.Contains(requestGUID))
return true;
else return false;
}
My JavaScript so far is:
$(document).ready(function() {
var input = {requestGUID:"<%=guid %>"};
console.log(input);
$.ajax({
url: "http://www.blah.com/services/TestsService.svc/IsDataReady",
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
data: input,
dataType: "json",
success: function(data) {
}
});
EDIT2: I broke out the 2nd ajax call into a method but my logging is showing that the call to 2nd web service never passes a requestGUID. Can't i use the same input variable?
var guid = "<%= this.guid%>";
// var input = '{"SbiId":"' + guid + '"}';
// var input = {requestGUID:"ca222cf7-be5e-431a-ab93-9a31e8ae2f4a"};
function callUpdateGrid(input) {
console.log(input);
$.ajax({
url: "http://www.blah.com/services/TestsService.svc/GetContactsDataAndCountbyGUID",
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
data: input,
dataType: "json",
success: function (data) {
var mtv = $find("<%= RadGrid1.ClientID %>").get_masterTableView();
console.log(data);
mtv.set_dataSource(data.d.Data);
mtv.dataBind();
}
});
}
function CallIsDataReady(input) {
$.ajax({
url: "http://www.blah.com/services/TestsService.svc/IsDataReady",
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
data: input,
dataType: "json",
success: function (data) {
if (!data) {
setTimeout(function (inputInner) { CallIsDataReady(inputInner); }, 1000);
}
else {
//Continue as data is ready
callUpdateGrid(input);
}
}
});
}
$(document).ready(function () {
var input = { requestGUID: "<%=guid %>" };
CallIsDataReady(input);
});
EDIT2: I broke out the 2nd ajax call into a method but my logging is showing that the call to 2nd web service is never getting called:
url: "http://www.blah.com/services/TestsService.svc/GetContactsDataAndCountbyGUID",
else {
//Continue as data is ready
callUpdateGrid(input);
}
The return value will be contained in the data parameter passed to the success callback setup in your ajax call.
You will need to check the value here, then if false, setup a timeout, which on expiry will attempt the ajax call again.
It would be best IMO to wrap up the Ajax call inside a function, that you can call in a recursive fashion when the timeout has expired. e.g.
function CallIsDataReady(input){
$.ajax({
url: "http://www.blah.com/services/TestsService.svc/IsDataReady",
type: "GET",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
data: input,
dataType: "json",
success: function(data) {
if (!data){
setTimeout(function(){CallIsDataReady(input);}, 1000);
}
else{
//Continue as data is ready
}
}
});
}
$(document).ready(function() {
var input = {requestGUID:"<%=guid %>"};
console.log(input);
CallIsDataReady(input);
});
When you view source on this page is:
var input = {requestGUID:"<%=guid %>"};
showing correctly in the javascript? If you put a breakpoint in your IsDataReady method, do you see if requestGUID has a value? Is your service on the same domain as the page calling it?
EDIT:
In your service change: [WebGet]
to:
[WebGet(
RequestFormat=WebMessageFormat.Json,
ResponseFormat=WebMessageFormat.Json]
