406 HTTP Response when calling POST method in C# Web API - c#

Every time I make a POST request with Fiddler, an UnsupportedMediaTypeException is raised. Am I missing something?

After looking a bit further into my code, I noticed something. My controller class was inheriting from ODataController. I just changed the inheritance to ApiController and everything works fine now.

Overriding WebAPI controller naming convention doesn't work

I am having difficulties to understand how WebAPI routing is working. This is what my controller looks like:

I was expecting that I am able to reach public HttpResponseMessage ExecOrder(string clordid) via http://localhost:port/api/order-mgmt/execute?clordid=<clordidstring>.
This however doesn't work. The controller is still only reachable via api/order/execute. I really don't get what I am doing wrong here. Any help is greatly appreciated.
try removing [RoutePrefix("order-mgmt")]
then do it like this
[Route("api/order-mgmt/execute/{clordid}")]
public HttpResponse ExecOrder(string clordid)

How do I not generate the default endpoints when using attribute routing?

I'm using attribute routing in a Web API controller (.NET Framework 4.5.2 - don't ask, I'm trying to get approval for time to move everything forward).
I have applied a [RoutePrefix] attribute to my ApiController.
I have two controller actions, both HttpGets. Each has a [Route] attribute applied.
I'm using Swagger to auto-generate docs. In the docs for this controller I see three endpoints listed - two for my controller actions, and another HttpGet with the bare controller route.
That is what I have is this:

And In the generated Swagger docs I see three endpoints:

GET api/test/Tickets/since
GET api/TestTickets
This third endpoint, api/TestTickets, seems to be derived from the class name of the controller, ignored my routing attributes. And when I call it, I get an HTTP 200 with an empty body, despite not having defined an action for it.
Where is this coming from? And how can I stop it from being generated?

It was suggested that I remove the [HttpGet, Route("")] attribute. If I do, I get an error:

C# REST API Controller: same route with 2 different actions

When using the following routes:

My expectation would be that the router would find the correct route based on the HttpMethod used since even it's using the same URI it is using a different HttpMethod.
But instead it fails with the following:
"Message": "The requested resource does not support http method 'GET'."
My guess is because it fins a match with the URI and then checks if the method if the same.
Is there a way to achieve using the same URI with different Http Method which is by the way REST guidelines? Am I missing something?

I removed ValidateModel. I think it's your custom attribute or somehow related with built in nuget package.
Anyways, execute the calls with Postman or any HTTP client tool. It should work , as it was working at my end with above mentioned code.
Example Calls:
https://localhost:44370/api/v1/devices/devices_list = > Get.
https://localhost:44370/api/v1/devices/newDevice => Post. Provide body as post call for the object.

Multiple actions were found that match the request But WebApiConfig is set

i'm using asp.net web api. And my problem is "Multiple actions were found that match the request" but i set route template already and in my controller i have 2 POST action

The Route attribute doesn't seems to be implemented correctly.
Use it like this instead -
[Route("api/mycontroller/InsertRoadMap")]
[Route("api/mycontroller/UpdateRoadMap")]
Now you can browse like this - http://server/api/mycontroller/InsertRoadMap
You can also use RoutePrefix attribute at controller level so that you do not have to repeat api for every method.
[RoutePrefix("api")]
And then you can set routes like -
[Route("mycontroller/InsertRoadMap")]
[Route("mycontroller/UpdateRoadMap")]

Web API using Odata returns BSON while expecting Response as JSON

I literally followed this tutorial,

Excepting the return format as JSON but not sure how am getting back BSON, am new to BSON never heard about.
OData, WebAPI, EF (repository pattern)is what am using. Any suggestions on how to get back JSON instead of BSON.

My Controller was referencing to System.Web.Http.OData, uninstalled all the nuget packages related to Odata,WebAPI and reinstalled. Referenced Controller to System.Web.OData and everything looks good now returns JSON. Thanks a lot for all your responses.
