Installing Xamarin for Visual Studio totally offline - c#

I want to develop Android apps using C# with Xamarin in Visual Studio.
However, they provide an installer which will download required files only. How can I download a full offline (incl. its requirements) installer?
I have the following software already installed:
- Java 8u101
- Java SE Development Kit 8u91
- .NET Framework 4.6 with SDK
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Express (I don't know if Xamarin will work with this - please let me know)
- Android SDK (installed earlier for Android Studio)
If you know where I can download an offline installer for Xamarin.Android, please let me know. I cannot download through the Universal Installer since I have a poor connection.
I apologize if I have posted in the wrong place.
Thank you
Update: i have VS 2015 ENTERPRISE EDITION

If you log in to your Xamarin account page and go to the downloads section [1].
You'll be able to get everything you need for an offline install if you click the "Show all versions" link underneath the large blue button.
Grab the Xamarin.iOS or Xamarin.Android Windows installer (they're the same thing) - that's it!
Seeing as you need Visual Studio 2015 (as you have 2010 and Xamarin is not compatible with 2010 anymore), you can also grab a copy of the VS 2015 Community ISO [2].

If You want to install it by Visual Studio installer:
Try download it manually. View file Catalog.json at installation root. Find string containing "Xamarin.VisualStudio":
{"id":"Xamarin.VisualStudio","version":"4.6.3.4","type":"Vsix","payloads":[{"fileName":"Xamarin.VisualStudio.vsix","sha256":"c082f47bc00da4420cd1e90f167ad4285688b5c5df1d115c5dda1f1ec2aa1ffb","size":492545242,"url":"https://download.visualstudio.microsoft.com/download/pr/11327837/d68d54e233c956ff79799fdf63753c54/Xamarin.VisualStudio.vsix"}],"vsixId":"Xamarin.VisualStudio",
here
4.6.3.4 - version of Xamarin;
https://download.visualstudio.microsoft.com/download/pr/11327837/d68d54e233c956ff79799fdf63753c54/Xamarin.VisualStudio.vsix - try download this file, then check file size and checksum, here sha256.
If all ok, change file name to "Xamarin.VisualStudio.vsix" and put it to folder at root of instalation, and name it using id and version, here :
Xamarin.VisualStudio,version=4.6.3.4

visual studio c# extensions missing

I've search the web and found questions from 3-9 years ago.
My problem is that I can't find anywhere the .NET standard or Windows Console Application or Windows Desktop Application or class Library for C#.
When I had Visual Studio 2015 - it was there by default.
Today I have Visual Studio 2017 and window 10 and I can't get my things together.
Are they canceled?
What is the other option?
When I look at my New project library -> Online -> Visual C#
There are many different applications but non of them seems to come from Microsoft.
Meanwhile I've got a .NET Core API Solution template but it has a lot of errors.
Please help
visual studio c# extensions missing
Just like Joe said, you should use Visual Studio installer to install the modules you need. Visual Studio 2017 use the a new way to install Visual Studio! In the newest version, MS have made it easier for you to select and install just the features you need. MS have also reduced the minimum footprint of Visual Studio so that it installs more quickly and with less system impact than ever before.
After the installer is installed, you can use it to customize your installation by selecting the feature sets—or workloads—that you want.
For the .NET core API project, you need install module .NET Core cross-platform development.
Check the document Install Visual Studio 2017 for some more details.
Hope this helps.

I can't find cross platform app Xamarin on visual studio 2017

I have installed visual studio 2017 community properly with mobile development packge and I can't find cross platform app in c#
What can I do to install it ?
You should review the installation procedure documented by Microsoft.
If you don't have the Xamarin menu under Help then you may have missed something. You can re-run the installer and change workflows to confirm you have all the required pieces. Note that additional steps are needed to build and deploy, although you see stuck at just the installation step if templates are missing.
The problem was that some files was corrupted because of a faild complete unistallation of xamarin ... so i prefered a speed and smart solution that can help me to continue my work so i installed a new os windows in new partition i tried to install those files , they worked on the new os so it's clear that xamarin will be installed properly finaly i installed the hole visual studio and that worked for me ...

CefSharp.MinimalExample.WinForms display blank page when running on C# Visual Studio 2015

I really don't know what is wrong but since so many hours I just want to run the sample application but after downloading the .zip file and launch the project from the file CefSharp.MinimalExample.WinForms it seem to be built well after a while the the form display...loading the google page.... then the Windows keep showing the BLANK PAGE (See the image attached to my post) forever...As I did not change anything in the code of the sample application then I don't understand what is wrong at all. My working environment is:
Microsoft Visual Studio Community 2015
version 14.0.25431.01 Update 3
Microsoft .NET Framework
version 4.6.01055
Microsoft Visual C# 2015
Windows 10 OS
Notice also that I'm a beginner to C# and I use Nuget to manager the package.
Thank in advanced

No templates in Visual Studio 2017

After a Visual Studio 2017 (RC) installation from scratch, I can't find a standard list of templates. I'm specifically interested in the Console Application (C#) template and the Windows Form (C#) template. I'm pretty sure I'm missing one of the Individual Components. I'm not sure which one is supposed to be installed and I don't want to install all of them.
Please see my list with components installed.
You need to install it by launching the installer.
Click the "Workload" tab* in the upper-left, then check top right ".NET-Desktop Development" and hit install. Note it may modify your installation size (bottom-right), and you can install other Workloads, but you must install ".NET-Desktop Development" at least.
*as seen in comments below, users were not able to achieve the equivalent using the "Individual Components" tab.
If you have installed .NET desktop development and still you can't see the templates, then VS is probably getting the templates from your custom templates folder and not installed.
To fix that, copy the installed templates folder to custom.
This is your "installed" folder
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio
14.0\Common7\IDE\ProjectTemplates
This is your "custom" folder
C:\Users[your username]\Documents\Visual
Studio\2017\Templates\ProjectTemplates
Typically this happens when you are at the office and you are running VS as an administrator and visual studio is confused how to merge both of them and if you notice they don't have the same folder structure and folder names.. One is CSHARP and the other C#....
I didn't have the same problem when I installed VS 2017 community edition at home though. This happened when I installed visual studio 2017 "enterprise" edition.
I found the path and wrote it in the options
My personal experience was that I had installed the Team Foundation Server client for 2017 first (was using it as a Proof of Concept for our QA team, while I was still using VS2015), then followed it up with Installing Visual Studio 2017 later to begin development.
What I ended up with on my Start Menu was a Visual Studio 2017 and a Visual Studio 2017 (2). The Visual Studio 2017 (2) had all the templates I was missing. Following the steps found in the First answer to this question (which were clear and easy to follow) did not fix my issue. I had thought that launching the client would upgrade to the Development Client, but it did not. I renamed it to Visual Studio Professional, and now have everything I need. Not sure if this happens to anyone else, but it was what happened to me, so I hope this helps someone.
NOTE: this topic is about installation issues with MS project templates.
I came here via a search in Google, I was looking for a missing Template option in Visual Studio 2017 File menu: in VS-2015, it was Export to Template and I used it to add my own standard Project Items.
Meanwhile, I found an answer.. my issue was not related to default templates and it does not need install things. The option Export to Template has been moved to the VS-2017 Project menu !
I had to reinstall .NET desktop development (throught Workload tab), even button was showing: Modify
After that Visual C# selection appeared :)
(And now i can use Console APP Template)
In my case, I had all of the required features, but I had installed the Team Explorer version (accidentally used the wrong installer) before installing Professional.
When running the Team Explorer version, only the Blank Solution option was available.
The Team Explorer EXE was located in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\TeamExplorer\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe"
Once I launched the correct EXE, Visual Studio started working as expected.
The Professional EXE was located in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\2017\Professional\Common7\IDE\devenv.exe"
My C++ templates were there all along, it was my C# ones that were missing.
Similar to CSharpie, after trying many modify/re-installs, oddly the following finally worked for me :
- run the installer, but un-select 'Desktop development with C++'.
- allow installer to complete
- run the installer again, and select 'Desktop development with C++'.
- allow installer to complete
In my case, I had all of the required features, but I had installed the Team Explorer version (accidentally used the wrong installer) before installing Professional.

This solved my issue, and the reason was I had enterprise edition previously installed and then uninstalled and installed the professional edition. Team Explorer was not modified later when I moved to professional from enterprise edition.

is it possible to use team explorer for version control without buying license for visual studio?

I downloaded the team explorer 2005 and when I tried to open the application from source control , I am getting the error .csproj applicaion type is not installed.
How can I resolve this ?
In order to open a .csproj you will need to install a version of Visual Studio that supports .csproj`s. There are free versions, called express SKU's, of Visual Studio that should help you out here. It, and the other express SKU's, are available at the following link
http://www.microsoft.com/express/Windows/
You need a CAL (Client Access License) to run just team explorer and access the TFS functionality to check in and check out and other things. If you're wanting to open the projects and make changes you'll need a license for visual studio. There are many different options there. I don't believe you can use the free one in your situation. Using VS professional you'll still need to get the CAL as well to access TFS but if you get one of the team editions of VS you will have the TFS CAL included.
That's how I understand the licensing for TFS/VS but I'm not an expert and it would probably be best to ask your supplier or microsoft about licensing.
I believe Team Explorer allows one to interface with TFS which includes accessing project documentation, filing bugs, and possibly retrieving source code. However, I believe you need Visual Studio to open up project/solution files (i.e. a developer task).
This might be different with Visual Studio 2010 but that's the sales pitch we heard regarding 2008.
In summary, although you need the specific module that loads C# projects. When you installed Team Explorer, although you have the basic IDE, that module is not loaded (is similar to when you install SQL Server client - you have the Visual Studio IDE, but the only module loaded is the SQL Server management Studio). As some of the other guys suggested, try to install Visual Studio C# Express (you can find more information here - http://www.microsoft.com/express/Windows/ - click on Microsoft® Visual C#® 2008 Express Edition). Notice that later on if you want to use web application, you will need to install the web edition and so forth.
When you install Visual Studio Professional (or Team Suite) most of those modules are installed by default.
I hope this info helps.
