I offloaded a project which involved making a cross platform app from a website. My friend who was supposed to do the project, has given me a solution that contains a portable section and a droid section. The ios and windows apps will be made once i complete the remaining portions of the portable code.
Now, he used some packages that are failing to load completely on my system. He had compiled an apk from this code, so this code must be working, but I cannot resolve the issues with the packages. I removed the packages directory from the project he supplied to me, and rebuilt the project hoping the packages would restore themselves correctly. But I ended up with the same errors again.
Then I found that "Mono.Android" and "RestSharp" were marked with warning signs under the references list. So I removed these two, and tried installing them fresh from Nuget Package Manager. Trying to install RestSharp gave me the following error:
Could not install package 'RestSharp 104.5.0'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets '.NETPortable,Version=v4.5,Profile=Profile259', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.
And I also cannot find "Mono.Android" package in the Nuget Package Manager. My friend was unable to help me out on this. Please suggest how to get this project working.
Thanks in advance.

I tried a lot, but I can't install Microsoft.ProjectOxford.Face NuGet into Xamarin Studio iOS project.
I got this error:
Could not install package 'Microsoft.ProjectOxford.Face 1.2.5.1'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.
I tried to update all packages, also Xamarin and still same problem. Only this package does not work - other like Newtonsoft.Json, Mircosoft.Net.HTTP and many other was installed correctly. I tried to install first Microsoft.BCL also Microsoft.BCL.Build and it also does not work.
Maybe you have any thoughts what can I do to make it work?
Unfortunately this is a problem with the Microsoft.ProjectOxford.Face 1.2.5.1 NuGet package itself. Whilst it has a portable class library (PCL) folder this does not map to a valid PCL profile:
portable-net45+wp80+win8+wpa81+aspnetcore50
If the aspnetcore50 part of that folder is removed then it would install into Xamarin.iOS. As it is, NuGet will not allow you to install it.
The only thing left you can do is unzip the NuGet package and try directly using the assembly. NuGet will not allow you to install it.
I believe there are plans to update the NuGet package to fix this, but that has not yet happened.
Good morning all,
I am following the instructions on the azure site for adding offline sync capability in a Xamarin.Forms application.
I have added the package to the PCL without issue but when trying to add to the iOS client project I am getting the following error:
Could not install package 'Microsoft.Azure.Mobile.Client.SQLiteStore 2.1.1'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.
My project is well established in terms of completed code base so I downloaded the getting started app to test from scratch and the same issue remains.
Please help

Looks lite something is wrong with package 2.1.1.
Install version 2.1.0 instead and it should work!

I am trying to create an Azure Mobile Services cross platform app. I am using Xamarin.Forms, so have been trying to follow this tutorial. However, I am not getting very far... I create a new Xamarin Forms project in Visual Studio 2015 and opening the nuget manager. I try to install Azure Mobile Services into each project in the solution. But I get the following set of errors:
Unexpected error - Please file a bug report at http://bugzilla.xamarin.com. Reason: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load assembly 'Azure_Test, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken='. Perhaps it doesn't exist in the Mono for Android profile? Azure_Test.Droid
Could not install package 'Microsoft.Bcl.Build 1.0.14'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'Xamarin.iOS,Version=v1.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.
I have filed a bugzilla case, but it seems like a pretty straight forward thing, so I wondered if there is anything I have done wrong there is a workaround?
Had this the other day. Before you install the Mobile Services package install the Microsoft.Bcl.Build nuget package. After that, I was able to install flawlessly.
At the moment I'm trying to launch empty app with cross-platform solution in Xamarin Studio.
I've tried make app with empty library project and shared library, both has same errors. Now unresolved problems are:
1) Build error:
Error XA5207: Please install package: 'Android Support Library' available in SDK installer. Java library file classes.jar doesn't exist. (XA5207) (*projectName*)
Error XA5207: Please install package: 'Android Support Library' available in SDK installer. Java library file libs/internal_impl-21.0.3.jar doesn't exist. (XA5207) (*projectName*)
This question didn't help me.
2) Some links says it could be because of old Mono.Android.Support.v4 component. My component version is 21.0.3.0. After clicking for update it says:
You are trying to install this package into a project that targets 'MonoAndroid,Version=v4.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible with that framework.
My Mono.Android assembly version is 0.0.0.0 and I dodn't know how to update it.
I've tried PCL project with PCL 4.5 - profile7. New projects builds normal, but after first project clean it gives me error about not found classes.jar file like described above. Another new PCL project still builds fine.
UPDATE
Error in PCL project occures not after clean - it occures with included Xamarin.Forms NuGet to Android project.
UPDATE
After rising target framework of android project to v4.0.3 I successfuly updated Mono.Android.Support.v4 component, but it still show me error about Please install package.
UPDATE
I'm using Windows 7 OS, same problem with all users including new user. But on another computer with Windows 8 it works. It is not a solution for me, but it can somehow help someone.
i think your java JDK and JRE not install properly and your path not set in your environment variable you must add your jdk path in that and if you are make application using cross platform then also add path SDK in your computer environmental variable. using CMD throw creating project.
I'm having a particularly difficult refactoring session involving a C# solution with multiple projects in Visual Studio 2012. I needed to pull out a bunch of code into their own assemblies so that code could be shared across several projects, all in the same solution. However, no matter what I try, I get warnings for the projects that reference the new shared projects that "All projects referencing {shared project name} must install nuget package Microsoft.Bcl.Build".
I have been over the dependent projects and the shared projects with a fine-tooth comb, verifying in detail that they all use the same version and exact same DLL for the Microsoft.Bcl version 1.0.1.19 and Microsoft.Bcl.Async version 1.0.16 packages:
System.Runtime
System.Threading.Tasks
Microsoft.Threading.Task
Microsoft.Threading.Tasks.Extensions
Microsoft.Threading.Tasks.Extensions.Phone
The DLL paths are all resolved and identical. The XAP file does build but I still get that warning telling me that Microsoft.Bcl.Build is not referenced in the dependent projects, despite the fact that I can see that it is.
If I try instead to uninstall and then reinstall those two packages using NuGet for each project involved, I get references with empty paths and the warning icon for the 5 DLL references involved. For some reason NuGet adds the references but can't find the DLLs. Also, if I do this, I find myself with the problem frequently of having projects where I get the "Can't add reference" error when trying to add a reference. Then I have close and re-open the solution, and that leads to a "project failed to load" error. So I have to edit the project file manually, remove the faulty package import statements, and reload the project.
How can I fix this problem and what is the general technique for avoiding this headache in the future? Letting NuGet manage missing packages didn't help at al.
In case anyone else comes across this and #Swell's solution made you go "wtf":
I recently went through an older MVC project and updated it (updated razor, asp, http, etc. nuget packages). The project, independent of itself, built fine, but when i went to publish it failed with the OP's errors.
It turns out it's because I didn't update the *.Tests project associated with it (should have figured, though not sure why Tests is that closely tied to the project). So, to fix:
Right-click the Solution and manage nuget packages.
Go through all the packages that were updated in the web project and apply them to the other projects as well (each "Update" will display a tree with the applicable projects, I was fine just OKAY-clicking through).
Rebuild.
You should now be good and it shouldn't bark at you. Hope that helps others.
I just came throught the same issue and a bug is opened here: http://nuget.codeplex.com/workitem/3268
What I've done is the following, I added to the solution level the package Microsoft.Bcl.Build
In my dev env if you don't have the package loaded, just right click the solution and select manage nuget packages, you see a yellow bar with a restore button, just click it and you will be fine.
In my build script before compiling the project I run this command:
.\myproject\.nuget\NuGet.exe install .\myproject\.nuget\packages.config -OutputDirectory .\myproject\packages
This will restore solution level packages and you will be fine.
This should be fixed by the end of this summer in version 2.7 according to the issue report
