I have an assembly that when compiled throws the following error:
Error CSC CS1569: Error while generating the xml-dumentation
'MyAssembly.XML'
('Access denied ')
As from MSDN this error occurs when we don´t have write-permissions for a given file (as suggested within the error). However I start VS as admin, so I assume to have write-permissions (checked within the permission-settings within widows). What´s more crazy is that after compiling the file exists, however there´s no DLL with name MyAssembly.
EDIT: I noticed, that when the file is created by VS I don´t even have permission to read the file-settings in Windows when using Explorer.
Obviously VS creates files it can´t read nor modify.

In my current UWP application, I am receiving 19062 errors, all of which begin with "The .winmd file (filename) contains type (type name) outside its root namespace (namespace name)." Examples of the full error code are shown below.
I have attempted the following to resolve the error:
Restarting Visual Studio
Rebuilding the Solution
Reinstalling the most recent version of the Windows SDK
Restarting my computer
The project was building fine a few days ago. Since then, I have not done anything to my computer which would result in such an issue with my solution.
Here are the error code examples:
"The .winmd file 'Windows.Foundation.UniversalApiContract.winmd' contains type 'Windows.ApplicationModel.Search.ISearchQueryLinguisticDetails' outside its root namespace 'Windows.Foundation.UniversalApiContract'. Make sure that all public types appear under a common root namespace that matches the output file name."
"The .winmd file 'Windows.Foundation.UniversalApiContract.winmd' contains type 'Windows.Graphics.Display.DisplayInformation'. The use of the Windows namespace is reserved."
"The .winmd file 'Windows.Foundation.UniversalApiContract.winmd' contains type 'Windows.UI.Xaml.Automation.IValuePatternIdentifiers' outside its root namespace 'Windows.Foundation.UniversalApiContract'. Make sure that all public types appear under a common root namespace that matches the output file name."
I am relatively new to UWP, and am failing to interpret the error. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.
Jordan.
The project needed to be cleaned to avoid these errors. OP confirmed in comments that it was a cause.
Installation of ASP.NET application goes through fine. But launching it after installation causes this error in browser.
Compiler Error Message: CS0016: Could not write to output file
'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\
d09d1fc5\8ea09859\App_Web_needlicense.cshtml.639c3968.h6teml6g.dll' -- 'Access is denied.'
I have seen many questions on this error, but this is on a different dll. Fixes provided in similar errors doesnt seem to work for me. Hence, I thought of checking this particular error here.
I am hopeful of finding a perfect answer here. Thanks.
I am working on an ASP.NET website and as part of the website I created a file called Global.cs which is used to hold all my helper classes. However, unfortunately, I am constantly getting errors saying there has been a problem while compiling this file. All the classes inside the file are included in single namespace - "Global".
When using it 'inline' eg. Global.SomeStaticClass.Method() :
Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.
Compiler Error Message: CS0103: The name 'Global' does not exist in the current context
When using "using Global;" directive:
Description: An error occurred during the compilation of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific error details and modify your source code appropriately.
Compiler Error Message: CS0246: The type or namespace name 'Global' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
As suggested in many posts, I tried including the class in App_Code folder of my project and the namespace, "Global", is detected by the Visual Studio (no errors when adding "using Global;" directive, or when using it inline "Global.Class.Method()". However, it still fails whenever I try to access the page in the browser.
I could not find a simple solution to my problem and decided that the easiest and the most time efficient solution will be to convert my Website project to a Web Application project. You can read how to convert your Website to a Web Application at: https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/webdev/2009/10/29/converting-a-web-site-project-to-a-web-application-project/
With the project converted to a Web App I was able to attach my class files after compiling them to a DLL library, as it did not accept any uncompiled files inside App_Code folder by throwing an exception.
The directory '/website/App_Code/' is not allowed because the application is precompiled.
If you encounter the same issue, you can learn how to compile C# files using Developer Command Prompt here: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/78f4aasd.aspx
I keep getting the following parse error:
Server Error in '/' Application.
Parser Error
Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately.
Parser Error Message: Only Content controls are allowed directly in a content page that contains Content controls.
Source Error:
Line 1: ate
Source File: /admin/JobCategories.aspx Line: 1
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:4.0.30319; ASP.NET Version:4.0.30319.34248
Problem is, the file in question doesn't have that string ("ate") anywhere in it. I did a search in visual studio for it, and found one file containing it.
Strangely enough, the file was shown as JobCategories(1).aspx. I opened it, and tru enough the string was appended to the start of the file. I deleted it, but the error persists, and now when I search for the string in VS I find no results. Tried restarting IIS, rebuilding the website in VS, and restoring an older version of the file from backup that used to work, but I still get the same error.
Only thing done on the file since the last backup was updating a string in the HTML, nothing to do with the code, and nothing near the beginning of the file.
Any ideas? Thanks.
I am using a windows service, In which I am having a reference of an assembly which is copy local= false. But I am trying to load it at runtime, which is though working fine when I am running it from visual studio, But when I try to install it, cmd gives this error:

Also one thing to note here is that If I make copy local true of that .dll it makes installation fine. BUt I dont want to load it before installation so I want to do it at runtime.
Thanks in Advance.
Maybe you need to use another version of InstallUtil.exe:
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\InstallUtil.exe
c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\InstallUtil.exe
Try to use x64 version from Framework64 subfolder.
Also one thing to note here is that If I make copy local true of that .dll it makes installation fine. BUt I dont want to load it before installation so I want to do it at runtime.
That doesn't really matter, the assembly still needs to make it to the installation directory. If you set Copy Local to false, then you still need to distribute the assembly with the installation.
I had a similiar problem. I did the following that worked for me.
First, use FuseLog (Assembly Binding Viewer) to figure out where the binding is failing (Described Here
Once I began getting logs, I noticed this in my log was "Invalid assembly platform or ContentType in file (hr = 0x8007000b)."
My solution consisted of 3 projects. I went through the build properties of each project and noticed that one of them was targeted for "x86". I changed it to "Any CPU", recompiled and the problem was resolved.
