gadget's name used as parameter on a method - c#

enter code here:
//Displays the primary color
var ralnr = 9004;
var primColor = 2;
String primaryColor = column[firstIndex, primColor];
var primary = ralcode(primaryColor, out ralnr);
primaryRAL.Text = primaryColor + " " + "RAL" + " " + ralnr;
PictureBox gadget1 = primaryColorBox1;
string ral1 = ralnr.ToString();
backgroundcolorchange(gadget1, ral1);
//Displays the secondary color
var secColor = 3;
String secondaryColor = column[firstIndex, secColor];
var secondary = ralcode(secondaryColor, out ralnr);
secondaryRAL.Text = secondaryColor + " " + "RAL" + " " + ralnr; ;
PictureBox gadget2 = secondaryColorBox2;
string ral2 = ralnr.ToString();
backgroundcolorchange(gadget2, ral2);
hi I'm just new in programming. I was trying to pass the gadget's name
for the first gadget and it worked using the Method that I have
created but for the second gadget it did not worked. How is that?
private void backgroundcolorchange(PictureBox gadget, string ralcode)
{
string strPath = Application.StartupPath + "\\images\\";
gadget.BackgroundImage = Image.FromFile(strPath + ralcode + ".jpg");
gadget.BackgroundImageLayout = ImageLayout.Stretch;
}

I am guessing that primaryColorBox1 is a textbox?
Based on that guess, you would need to pass the whole object to backgroundcolorchange.
This is because you are trying to alter properties off of the textbox.
so your backgroundcolorchange method would be more like
private void backgroundcolorchange(TextBox gadget, string ralcode){ ...
But this is all I can guess based on the information supplied.

I want to add text on top of a bitmap in Xamarin Forms Skia

I would like to be able to create an infographic style image in my Xamarin Forms app. I have a png that I am planning to use as the background and then add text on top of it.
I was trying to use these two links Creating and drawing on SkiaSharp bitmaps and SKCanvas.DrawText Method but I am getting an error on BitmapExtensions.
1. Did I miss how to declare BitmapExtensions?
2. Is this the best/easiest way to create the infographic I am trying to make?
Thank you!
// Get text to share
string textToShare = GamesWonText.Text + " " + GamesWon.Text + Environment.NewLine;
textToShare += GamesLostText.Text + " " + GamesLost.Text + Environment.NewLine;
textToShare += WinPercentText.Text + " " + WinPercent.Text + Environment.NewLine;
textToShare += CoinsBankedText.Text + " " + CoinsBanked.Text + Environment.NewLine;
textToShare += MaxCoinsText.Text + " " + MaxCoins.Text + Environment.NewLine;
textToShare += AvgCoinsText.Text + " " + AvgCoins.Text + Environment.NewLine;
// Create the image to share
string resourceID = "Infographic Background Image.png";
SKBitmap backgroundBitmap = BitmapExtensions.LoadBitmapResource(GetType(), resourceID);
using (SKCanvas canvas = new SKCanvas(backgroundBitmap))
{
using (SKPaint paint = new SKPaint())
{
paint.TextSize = 32.0f;
paint.IsAntialias = true;
paint.Color = new SKColor(0, 0, 0);
paint.IsStroke = false;
canvas.DrawText(textToShare, 540f, 960f, paint);
}
}
UPDATE TO INCLUDE COMMMENT
The error I am getting is "CS0103: The name 'BitmapExtensions' does not exist in the current context.
The BitmapExtensions is a class. You could use the code below.
static class BitmapExtensions
{
public static SKBitmap LoadBitmapResource(Type type, string resourceID)
{
Assembly assembly = type.GetTypeInfo().Assembly;
using (Stream stream = assembly.GetManifestResourceStream(resourceID))
{
return SKBitmap.Decode(stream);
}
}
}
For more details, you could check the sample code in the link below. https://github.com/xamarin/xamarin-forms-samples/blob/main/SkiaSharpForms/Demos/Demos/SkiaSharpFormsDemos/BitmapExtensions.cs

Discord.Net how to go to the next line in an embed with text formatting?

I've been looking for this but I cannot seem to find the answer.
What I want to accomplish is the following:
Right now when I reply with my embed it shows for example:
footbal,baseball
But what I want it to be is the following:
football,
baseball
Spread over 2 different lines.
Does anyone know how to do this with text Code?
Thank you in advance
Here is the code:
var value = "";
int price = 0;
foreach (var Item in content)
{
value += Item.Item1 + ": " + Item.Item2.ToString();
price += Item.Item2;
}
return new EmbedFieldBuilder()
{
Name = category + " - " + price,
Value = value
};
Worked for me with simple "\n" or Environment.NewLine:
var embed = new EmbedBuilder
{
Author = new EmbedAuthorBuilder() { Name = "AuthorNameHere" },
Title = "Sports",
Color = Color.Orange,
Description = "Football" + "\n\n" + "Baseball"
}.Build();
//var channel = GetYourNeededChannel();
await channel.SendMessageAsync("", false, embed);
Also works with fields in embed:
Fields = new List<EmbedFieldBuilder>()
{
new EmbedFieldBuilder()
{
Name = "TestField1",
Value = "FieldValue1" + "\n\n" + "FieldValue2"
}
}

c# Windows Form, replace string in textbox (file content) with another string

I have a textbox that contains all of the lines of a loaded file.
It looks like this:
I am able to load a specific line of the file that contains a specific string using this in the app:
How would I be able to update the file/main textbox after I press the "Edit Module" button, if any of the textboxes would be changed .
For example, I would change Exam Weighting: "0.4" to Exam Weighting: "0.6", then press the "Edit Module" button which would edit the main textbox(file content). Which then would allow me to save the file with the updated content.
This is the code I am using to get a specific line from the file based on string from a textbox:
private void editModuleButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
citation = editModuleComboBox.Text;
citationChange();
}
private void citationChange()
{
List<string> matchedList = new List<string>();
string[] linesArr = File.ReadAllLines(fileName);
//find matches
foreach (string s in linesArr)
{
if (s.Contains(citation))
{
matchedList.Add(s); //matched
}
}
//output
foreach (string s in matchedList)
{
string citationLine = s;
string[] lineData = citationLine.Split(',');
selectedModuleLabel.Text = lineData[2];
moduleTitleTextBox.Text = lineData[3];
creditsTextBox.Text = lineData[4];
semesterTextBox.Text = lineData[5];
examWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[6];
examMarkTextBox.Text = lineData[7];
testWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[8];
testMarkTextBox.Text = lineData[9];
courseworkWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[10];
courseworkMarkTexbox.Text = lineData[11];
}
}
If somebody with enough rep could insert the images to this post, that would be great. Thanks
This solution might not be the perfect, but should work for you. What you need to do is whenever the Edit Module button is pressed, create a new string based on the text fields and replace it with the original line. First declare a string variable private string ChangedString = ""; inside the class, then:
foreach (string s in matchedList)
{
string citationLine = s;
string[] lineData = citationLine.Split(',');
string Stream = lineData[0]; //Store this somewhere so that it can be accessed later
string Stage = lineData[1]; //Store this somewhere so that it can be accessed later
selectedModuleLabel.Text = lineData[2];
moduleTitleTextBox.Text = lineData[3];
creditsTextBox.Text = lineData[4];
semesterTextBox.Text = lineData[5];
examWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[6];
examMarkTextBox.Text = lineData[7];
testWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[8];
testMarkTextBox.Text = lineData[9];
courseworkWeightingTextBox.Text = lineData[10];
courseworkMarkTexbox.Text = lineData[11];
}
store Stream and Stage in any Textbox/ComboBox if you already haven't then replace them accordingly in the following line. Now in EditButton_Click [Click Event] write:
ChangedString = Stream + "," + Stage + "," + selectedModuleLabel.Text + "," + moduleTitleTextBox.Text
+ "," + creditsTextBox.Text + "," + semesterTextBox.Text + "," + examWeightingTextBox.Text + ","
+ examMarkTextBox.Text + "," + courseworkWeightingTextBox.Text + "," + courseworkMarkTexbox.Text;
Now replace this string with the original line.
Edit: As you would get the line number which is being edited, store it in a variable, let's say
int LineBeingEdited = 3 //Supposing line number three is being edited.
Then again in the same Click event you can write this:
ChangedString = Stream + "," + Stage + "," + selectedModuleLabel.Text + "," + moduleTitleTextBox.Text
+ "," + creditsTextBox.Text + "," + semesterTextBox.Text + "," + examWeightingTextBox.Text + ","
+ examMarkTextBox.Text + "," + courseworkWeightingTextBox.Text + "," + courseworkMarkTexbox.Text;
var lines = TextBox1.Lines;
lines[LineBeingEdited] = ChangedString;
TextBox1.Lines = lines;
EDIT 2: To get the line number I would suggest you to modify your for each loop to for loop. Also add a int variable to store the line number inside the class like : private int LineBeingEdited = 0;
Modify this for each :
foreach (string s in linesArr)
{
if (s.Contains(citation))
{
matchedList.Add(s); //matched
}
}
To for loop:
for (int a = 0; a < linesArr.Length; a++)
{
if (s.Contains(citation))
{
matchedList.Add(linesArr[a]); //matched
LineBeingEdited = a;
break; //breaks the loop when a match is found
}
}
The above method is being used, taking into consideration that there will always be a single match. LineBeingEdited will now have the line number and can be accessed from anywhere in the class

Pass parameter to a method and read the return value?

Having this code:
var code = "public class TestClass {" +
" public int HelloWorld(int num) {" +
" return 5 + num;" +
" }" +
"}";
var script = CSharpScript.Create(code);
var x = (await script.RunAsync()).ReturnValue;
How does one pass a value for the parameter, call the method and read the return value?
Continue with another code is the simplest.
var call = await script.ContinueWith<int>("new TestClass().HelloWorld(3)").RunAsync();
var x = call.ReturnValue;
By the way, CSharpScript is a scripting engine which does not require you having class and method like ordinary C# program. You can just use 5 + num as script content.
var code = "5 + num";
var numValue = 3;
var setParam = await CSharpScript.RunAsync("var num = " + numValue + ";");
var runCode = await setParam.ContinueWithAsync(code);
var x = runCode.ReturnValue;
For full example, take a look of RoslynScript/Script.cs

EncriptedEmail = EmailScript.Replace("\"","");
EncriptedEmail = EncriptedEmail.Substring(EncriptedEmail.IndexOf("'> + "), EncriptedEmail.IndexOf(" + </a>") - EncriptedEmail.IndexOf("'> +")).Replace("'> +", "").Trim();
string[] requiredVariables = EncriptedEmail.Split('+');
List<string> ExtractedDataFromRaw = new List<string>();
string email = "";
foreach (string variable in requiredVariables)
{
string temp = dataPart.Substring(dataPart.IndexOf(variable),dataPart.Length-dataPart.IndexOf(variable)).Replace(" ","");
string tempValueofVariable = temp.Substring(0, temp.IndexOf(";"));
tempValueofVariable = tempValueofVariable.Substring(tempValueofVariable.IndexOf("="), tempValueofVariable.Length - temp.IndexOf("=")).Replace("=","");
if (tempValueofVariable.Contains("String.fromCharCode"))
{
tempValueofVariable = GetCharacterFromASCII(tempValueofVariable.Replace("String.fromCharCode(", "").Replace(")", ""));
}
ExtractedDataFromRaw.Add(tempValueofVariable.Replace("'",""));
email += tempValueofVariable.Replace("'", "");
}
return email;
}
private string GetCharacterFromASCII(string value)
{
int result = 0;
int.TryParse(value, out result);
return char.ConvertFromUtf32(result);
}
That code is building the email address one character at a time from character codepoints and then assembling it later. I suppose this is an attempt to prevent email spam. Depending on what you need to do, it might be easiest to just pull the email address from the link using jQuery or something. $('a[href^=mailto]').attr('href').substring(7) or something ought to do it.
