Zip files in a folder using c# and return response

I want to zip files and folders in a folder using c# and I've checked previously asked questions but they don't work for me...i'm currently trying to work with DotNetZip. Here's a bit of my code:
using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile())
{
string[] files = Directory.GetFiles(#"C:\Users\T1132\Desktop\logs");
// add all those files to the logs folder in the zip file
zip.AddFiles(files, "logs");

the code above works but it only zips the files and leaves the folders. Kindly assist me please, Thanks.

There are so many ways to zip files using DotNetZip.
using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile())
{
zip.Encoding = System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding("big5"); // chinese
zip.AddDirectory(#"MyDocuments\ProjectX");
zip.Save(ZipFileToCreate);
}

C# -Make a zip file from List of file paths

I have a number of folders and I have number of file in each folders.
I am taking some of the file paths from different folders and I need to zip those files into a single zip file.
if I have the file in a single folder, I can do zip using

Suppose I don't know about the folders, I only have a list of file paths, I need to foreach through each file path and add into the zip. What should I do for this?

You can enumerate all files in the directory include subdirectories with Directory.GetFiles overloading and SearchOption.AllDirectories option and then use it
String[] allfiles = System.IO.Directory.GetFiles("myPath", "*.*", System.IO.SearchOption.AllDirectories);
foreach (string file in allfiles)
{
newFile.CreateEntryFromFile(file);

You can use ZipFile.CreateFromDirectory(string sourceDirectoryName, string destinationArchiveFileName) or its overload to create an archive in one step too.
Also there is a way to manipulate zip archive structure more flexibly via Path.GetDirectoryName() method. Here is the example:
foreach(var filePath in files)
{
var directory = Path.GetDirectoryName(filePath);
var fileName = Path.GetFileName(filePath);
var entry = archive.GetEntryFromFile(filePath, $"{directory}/{fileName}");
}
Finally, you can use 3rd party library DotNetZip and solve yor scenario in just 3 lines of code:
using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile())
{
zip.AddFiles(files);
zip.Save("Archive.zip");
}

Using the DotNetZip library from newget manager, just check whether it will work or not
using (ZipFile zip = new ZipFile())
{
foreach(var filestring in AllFileArray)

zip.AddFile(filestring);

zip.save("MyZipFile.zip")

Compress a single file using C#

I am using .NET 4.5, and the ZipFile class works great if I am trying to zip up an entire directory with "CreateFromDirectory". However, I only want to zip up one file in the directory. I tried pointing to a specific file (folder\data.txt), but that doesn't work. I considered the ZipArchive class since it has a "CreateEntryFromFile" method, but it seems this only allows you to create an entry into an existing file.
Is there no way to simply zip up one file without creating an empty zipfile (which has its issues) and then using the ZipArchiveExtension's "CreateEntryFromFile" method?
**This is also assuming I am working on a company program which cannot use third-party add-ons at the moment.

But if startPath were to be #"c:\example\start\myFile.txt;", it would throw an error that the directory is invalid.

Use the CreateEntryFromFile off a an archive and use a file or memory stream:
Using a filestream if you are fine creating the zip file and then adding to it:
using (FileStream fs = new FileStream(#"C:\Temp\output.zip",FileMode.Create))
using (ZipArchive arch = new ZipArchive(fs, ZipArchiveMode.Create))

arch.CreateEntryFromFile(#"C:\Temp\data.xml", "data.xml");

Or if you need to do everything in memory and write the file once it is done, use a memory stream:
using (MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream())
using (ZipArchive arch = new ZipArchive(ms, ZipArchiveMode.Create))
{
arch.CreateEntryFromFile(#"C:\Temp\data.xml", "data.xml");
}
Then you can write the MemoryStream to a file.
using (FileStream file = new FileStream("file.bin", FileMode.Create, System.IO.FileAccess.Write)) {
byte[] bytes = new byte[ms.Length];
ms.Read(bytes, 0, (int)ms.Length);
file.Write(bytes, 0, bytes.Length);
ms.Close();
}

Using file (or any) stream:

make sure you add references to System.IO.Compression

Also, check out the new dotnet API documentation for ZipFile and ZipArchive too. There are a few examples there. There is also a warning about referencing System.IO.Compression.FileSystem to use ZipFile.
To use the ZipFile class, you must reference the
System.IO.Compression.FileSystem assembly in your project.

The simplest way to get this working is to use a temporary folder.
FOR ZIPPING:
Create a temp folder
Move file to folder
Zip folder
Delete folder
FOR UNZIPPING:
Unzip archive
Move file from temp folder to your location
Delete temp folder

In .NET, there are quite a few ways to tackle the problem, for a single file. If you don't want to learn everything there, you can get an abstracted library, like SharpZipLib (long standing open source library), sevenzipsharp (requires 7zip libs underneath) or DotNetZip.

DotNetZip - Adding Folders

i imagine this is very simple but i can find nothing in the DotNetZip examples or documentation to help me. I need to add a folder to a zip that contains both folders and files, i need to maintain the folders rather than only zipping their files but using the following it always strips away the folders:

DotNetZip How Add Selected Files without creating folders

I want to add in zip file "test" all pdf files from path
