I am needing some help. Not very strong into coding but I need to understand why something isn't running for me.
I need to be able to connect an IP based camera to Windows. This is a new feature for windows when 1903 was released. If you look at the link below you will see what I'm referring to.
https://www.howtogeek.com/443847/windows-10-is-getting-built-in-support-for-network-cameras/
The issue is - the cameras I'm using require a password. This is not as simple as going in and adding the device manually. If you see the document below, the "Custom device" pairing is what I'm needing done.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/uwp/devices-sensors/pair-devices
As you can see this has to be coded to accomplish what I need. So this source code was referred to in the link below as something that should be able to do it.
https://github.com/microsoft/Windows-universal-samples/tree/master/Samples/DeviceEnumerationAndPairing/cs
Doing this in C#. Edit: I made sure to put all the shared files in the CS folder.
I'm using Visual studio and i pulled up the entire project but when I run it i'm getting an error that "The parent file, 'Scenario1_DevicePicker.xaml', for the file 'Scenario1_DevicePicker.xaml.cs' cannot be found in the project file.
I get that error for each .cs and .xaml.cs file there is. (Scenarios 1-9)
Can anyone help me out? Perhaps nudge me in the right direction?

My dev team is having an issue when trying to add certain files to the ignore.conf file for PlasticSCM. When we try to add the FMODStudioCache.asset and fmod_editor.log, among other FMOD related files, to this config file, they just continue to appear in Unity when receiving pushes and readying a push locally.
It has become very annoying to deal with because it doesn't seem to work as it is intended to. See below the lines we have tried to prevent it from showing up.
**/Assets/Plugins/FMOD/Cache/Editor/FMODStudioCache.asset
**/Assets/Plugins/FMOD/Resources/FMODStudioSettings.asset
fmod_editor.log
# Ignore the Cache folder since it is updated locally.

Sorry, I don't have enough posts yet so it makes me use a link above!
Has anyone found a solution to this? We have tried to even add the files to the hidden config file too and that doesn't work either... Thanks in advance !
Edit: Spelling error in question.
I recently had a new project assigned to me (I'm new to C# and I'm a junior). It makes use of a Microsoft access database file (.accdb file)
I've imported the project into Visual Studio but I can't for the life of me run the code. Initially I had file register issues, and I think I managed to resolve that by getting the IT teams to install a "2007 Office System Driver: Data Connectivity Components" driver from the Microsoft website.
Bow the error says:
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbExceptions: 'Cannot open database''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt.'
The team I'm trying to help only has one dev (working from a different country) who is the main person to handle the code. It works on her side, but she doesn't really have the experience to help me troubleshoot this.
I tried sending her my database file, for her to swap her file for mine, and she said it was still working, so it sounds like the issue might not be to do with the file?
Could I get any help if possible? So far my only approach is to keep googling the error.
But the only resolutions I see are from people who have database files nearing their file size limit (2GB). My database file is just 1MB.
The database file is password protected (the password happens to be in the code). I opened the database file (Microsoft access opens) and entered the password and I had no issue accessing the data)
Out of luck, I managed to find the right article to help me!
The issue with Microsoft access database files is only one user can really use then at a time I believe.
I saw a forum about potential locks made by other users. I googled how to remove locks but it seems that it might not be a lock issue (Microsoft creates a lock file which I dont have).
Regardless, I assumed that the issue is still somewhat similar. Since I had access to the database in Microsoft Access, I decided to open a new database, then go to external data tab and click on access to import EVERYTHING from the other file. Then I just renamed to old file and give my new file the original name.
I reran the code and it worked!
I dont know why the other dev had no issue opening the file. My assumption is that because she is the only developer her laptop is already 'set up' in some way to run everything as normal, whereas if someone new tried (or if something happens and she has to re-open the code on a new laptop) they would have to try and replicate the 'set up' or try and work from scratch
Hope this helps
First question on here and I am feeling pretty stumped, I've searched around but couldn't find something that I could apply to my situations, any help or direction to a prior question would be appreciated.
I'm receiving an error when trying to create some new files from my form. I'm following a guide at XNA Game Programming Academy (xnagpa_net/xna4rpg_php), I'm up to step 14 but I believe this started happening earlier and I hadn't noticed it yet.
Screenshot of Error
Please have a look at the above error and give me any tips.
My code for RpgEditor.FormMain.cs is here, it says something about line 128 which relates to;
if (Directory.Exists(gamePath))
throw new Exception("Selected directory already exists.");
I'm not sure why though, because I'm creating a brand new folder/directory when I am attempting to save the data.
If it helps, the subdirectories are being created by the process but I recieve that error and no files inside.
edit: I've downloaded the example project on his site and it's working fine with that, so I don't believe it's an issue with my system configuration.. must be a project setting or line of code somewhere..
To fix this I had to change the configuration settings.
It was set to AnyCPU but I had to change to x86.
The setting wasn't there originally, I had to create new and copy settings from AnyCPU.
Why this works I don't know, but it does :)
I work for an IT company where we all carry around flash drives that have our most used programs on them.In my spare time I am hoping to create a "main menu" item that is kind of a fun and convenient way to access these files. I am working on creating this using Visual Studio 2013 and using visual C# windows forms. I have come across a snag however that I can't seem to find a workaround for. I am by no means fluent in C#, but I need to have a button on the windows form open a file without specifying what drive it comes from. I understand that I have to specify a path, but as these will be stored on the flash drives of myself and my coworkers I cannot foresee that the path will always begin with E:. Depending on what USB slot the drive is plugged into it could be N: or F: or the like. I have provided an example below:
Using what I currently know I am opening files using this line of code:
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:/Users/Myname/Desktop/Asmodeus/Anti-Virus/Anti-Virus Installers/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe");
Is there any way possible I can have the file open simply from
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("Asmodeus/Anti-Virus/Anti-Virus Installers/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe");
or something of that nature?
Thanks in advance.
There must have been some mis-communication when I asked my question previously. what I am looking to do is open an executable file via a button click on the windows form using a relative path. I am not able to specify the absolute path because the application will be run from a flash drive and therefore will change depending on what USB slot it is currently inserted into.
What I am hoping to accomplish is insert a line of code that will allow me to open an executable file that is located in the \bin\debug folder along with the application itself. I have a picture for clarification but apparently do not have enough reputation to post it. Thank you and sorry for the earlier confusion.
Usually you can just use Environment.GetFolderPath (MSDN) to give you what you need. It doesn't do absolutely everything, but if you need Desktop and the like, that is plenty.
Depending on the target version of .Net, the SpecialFolders exposed are not all there. It may turn out that you need more than they provide, but in your case it doesn't sound like it.
If there is more you need that is not covered in the default, check out this project. I'm sure there are others like it, but it does a little more than the default BCL version, using the API directly. It is at least something to read and learn (and translate from vb.. use an online translator, very quick). I haven't looked at it, but it seems like you are learning this c#/.net thingy, so it might be helpful
This article is about accessing Windows special folders.
These folders include your “Favorites”, “Cookies”, system libraries and the like.
Here is code, including a large number of constant definitions, plus documentation,
allowing access to and creation of these folders.
I'm very new to Visual Studio 2010. I decided to create a simple WFA with C#.
Everything work fine with Images and Audio playback. My intention is to create a standalone application and send it to my friend as a gift. Problem I facing now is that when I tried to publish the application, the Images / Audio is still using the same location in my PC. So it won't play nor display any images.
Any comment on this or guide for me? I did try search for solution but doesn't seems to have any luck.
This is the code that I used to play Audio :
SoundPlayer ply = new SoundPlayer(#"C:\Users\Liam619\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\Projects\BirthdayApp\BirthdayApp\Resources\BirthdaySong.wav");
If I remove or change the path, the Application will hit error for locating the Audio file.
There may be several solutions to your problem.
a) embed the sound into a resource. As a beginner, resources may be a bit tricky to get it right the first time. But I want to encourage you reading something about it. You'll need resources when you want to translate your first program.
b) create an installer which copies the sound file to the installation directory. Try InnoSetup. If you're a programmer, sooner or later, you'll need to create a Setup anyway. Always worth knowing how to do that.
In that case, you still need the path to the sound file, but if you install your EXE into the same path as the sound file, see getting the application's executable directory.
everything in the database whether images or audio refers to your own server database.you have to send the database too with the app and the correct version .NET framework needs to be installed on the target PC.
