I have a question about my c# winform. When I enlarge my flow layout panel, I want my controls in it enlarge depends on my size of the flow layout panel. How can I do that?
For DataGridView changes with the size of the form,you could use control Control.Anchor Property.
Gets or sets the edges of the container to which a control is bound
and determines how a control is resized with its parent.
Set the property Anchor of the DataGridView to Top, Left, Right, and it will resize with the container. If your DataGridView is placed in a container (panel), then the panel should also be anchored.

I have a Windows Forms application consisting of a control within a window. I'd like the width of the control to fill the width of the form up to its MaximumSize.Width, at which point it centers itself within the window. Is there a way I can do this without code behind, if possible?
In the designer, center the control on its parent vertically, then strech the control to fill its parent horizontally.
Then alter the Anchor property of the control to Left; Right.
Now your control stays centered vertically while always filling its parent horizontally.
If that's not what you're looking for feel free to clarify.
I am attempting to add three panels to a window using a Devexpress Docking manager and dockable panels. Here are the current results:
The three panels are placed and sized how I would like them however their contents will not correctly resize as I resize the window. This first image indicates this by the Picturebox that fails to fill the window. My current attempt to regulate this is: (Panel3 refers to a panel that contains pictureBox1. which in turn is contained by dp3.)
void dp3_SizeChanged(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
panel3.Size = panel3.Parent.Size;
pictureBox1.Width = dp3.Width;
pictureBox1.Height = dp3.Height;
}
The Same is true for the Controls Window. I have controls that do not appear unless the window is grossly oversized.
The controls are contained in 4 seperate panels that are themselves contained in the dockable window.
How do I make things appear the correct size and location whendocking and resizing?
Go throught this DevX article - Designing Resizable Windows Forms in
Visual Studio .NET-2,
that i like most for understanding about layout in Winforms.
You should set the Anchor and Dock properties on the controls in the forms.
The Anchor property controls which edges of a control are "bound" or "tied" to the corresponding edges of its form.
For example, if you set Anchor to Bottom, the distance between the control's bottom edge and the bottom of its parent will not change, so the control will move down as you resize the form.
If you set Anchor to Top | Bottom, the control will resize vertically as you resize the form.
To make a control resize with the form, set the Anchor to all four sides, or set Dock to Fill.
You can set the control's Dock property to Fill. This will cause the control to fill it's parent container.
You may still need to write some code to handle laying out the child controls. You can either do this by handling the Resize event, or by using a container that supports resizing for you (such as FlowLayoutPanel or TableLayoutPanel).
Use your Control's Anchor property. You'll probably need to set it to all sides, Top, Bottom, Left, Right, if you want it to resize according to parent control in all four directions
If you want to Maintain the controls Aspect Ratio on Resize, You'll need to store off the aspect ratio somehow, whether it's something known to you at design time or if you just want to calculate it in the constructor of the form after InitializeComponent(). In your form's Resize event,
I want to add padding between the TreeView control's contents and its edge in windows form application?
This is referred to as a "margin" (padding is inside, margin is outside).
TreeView.Margin property:
Gets or sets the space between controls.
However, if your TreeView is docked it will not respect this setting:
Setting the Margin property on a docked control has no effect on the distance of the control from the the edges of its container.
So you would have to place your TreeView in a Panel, dock the Panel and put the margin on the TreeView.
I have a problem with UserControl that I'm crafting. It consists of TableLayoutPanel with another TableLayoutPanel in it with ListView inside. I want to make it resizable so that it will fit in left panel of my app and behave somewhat like Toolbox in Visual Studio. The problem is that my control doesn't scale when I resize panel.
UserControl is embedded in panel with Dock = Fill and Anchor = Tob, Left, Bottom, Right. Also all controls in it are made that way. How can I fix this?
EDIT: It's WinForms, not XAML.
Use a split panel and put your UserControl in the left panel and Dock.Fill it.
You're probably looking for the AutoSize properties on the TableLayoutPanel and the AutoSize ColumnType of that panel.
You can achieve something like a Dock = Fill by simply auto-sizing the table layout panel (GrowAndShrink) so that it will always fit your inner control.
Please post your designer code to see how you embedded the controls in which other control.
I suspect your resize problem come from your resizing strategy of control inside the TableLayoutPanel.
The table layout panel is tricky. Regarding the resize strategy you want to follow inside a cell of the table panel, the control in the cell have either to be Dock.Fill or Anchor = Top, Left, Bottom, Right.
Basically:
Il you want the grid cell to adapt to the size of the control, then have the control in the cell Anchor = Top, Left, Bottom, Right and set the row/column to autosize.
If you want the control in the cell to adapt to the cell size, use Dock.Fill on it and use a percentage or a absolute value to size your cell.
The behavior of the TableLayoutPanel is best described in the MSDN documentation.
I am working on a largish C# project with a lot of Windows Forms forms that, even though you can resize the form, the elements in the form don't scale.
How can I make the form elements (such as the datagridview, text area's, etc.) scale when the user changes the size of the form?
Nearly all the forms subclass from one specific form, so if there's something I can do in the base class, that'd be great.
Use the Anchor and Dock properties.
Anchor allows you to pin specific sides of the control to the sides of the parent control.
Dock will bind the whole control to a side of the parent control or it can be set to fill the contents of the parent control.
You usually just need to set the Anchor to the bottom and right of the parent control but gets more difficult when you have controls side by side, then you need to manually resize the controls on the forms OnResize event to get them to scale naturally together.
