I am trying to publish my code but every time this error comes up. couldn't figure out the problem causing this . I am using vs2019.
C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Temp\Temporary ASP.NET Files\root\3ae3db50\386f86a2\App_Web_ysujl3yj.1.cs(34,0): Error CS0246: The type or namespace name 'MediaTypeHeaderValue' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
Am I missing any package or reference ?
Has anyone encountered this error before? Is it related to IIS?
P.S: While debugging it runs smoothly and not showed any error or exception.
Updated:
Error List Shows this
but Unbale to find this file in my project.
You can try:
Clean solution then rebuild it.
Go to Solution Explorer. Right click on Solution. Go to Properties. Go to Configuration Manager. Check if the checkboxes under Build are checked or not. If any or all of them are unchecked, then check them and try build the solution again.
Remove the project reference and then adding it back in again, and check if all those missing dll file exists in the bin folder.
Delete bin/obj folder, build again and try to restart Visual Studio.
Some times we might miss **using ** keyword.

Maybe someone of you can help me by my problem. At first to make clear this problem is a known problem on stackoverflow and I read all the solutions for that problem and tried them out but this do not solved my problem.
Problem:
MSB3027: Could not copy
"C:\Users\SpecificUser.nuget\packages\opentap\9.10.4\build\payload\Dependencies\System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation.4.0.2.0\System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation.dll"
to
"bin\Debug\Dependencies\System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation.4.0.2.0\System.Runtime.InteropServices.RuntimeInformation.dll".
Exceeded retry count of 10. Failed.
Due to that error I can't build my solution no matter if I build in debug mode or release mode.
Try to Solve
At first I simply tried to clean the project and rebuild it
I also tried to clean the solution and rebuild the solution
At next I unloaded the project and reloaded it with and without dependencies
Than I tried to close VS2019 and reopened the project in combination with the previous parts
After that I tried to uncheck "allows NuGet to automatically check for missing packages during
build in Visual Studio" (Debug -> options)
Than I tried to build the project with all combinations of above
Than I tried the same but with Clear All NuGet Cache(s)
Than I tried to insert a prebuild action
if exist "$(TargetPath).locked" del "$(TargetPath).locked"
if not exist "$(TargetPath).locked" move "$(TargetPath)" "$(TargetPath).locked"
This throw me an error MSB3073 but without an error message and the description says:
MSB3073: The command "if exist "C:\Users\SpecificUser\source\repos\ProjectName\bin\Debug\ProjectName.dll.locked" del "C:\Users\SpecificUser\source\repos\ProjectName\bin\Debug\ProjectName.dll.locked"
Also, I made sure that the output path is clear
At next I tried to delete the bin folder and the obj folder.
All tis step have no success.
Additional Problem
Sometimes the dependencies would not load. For that I tried to reinstall them or reload the dependencies. Sometimes it works but usually not. Also, some References such as OpenTAP or Microsoft.CSharp has a yellow rectangular inside the symbol
yellow rectangular at reference
Used Recourses
OpenTAP SDK
OpenTAP lib
NetStandard lib
Microsoft.CSharp lib

Just for everyone who is interested what is the solution.
The problem with I hade was, that Visual Studio has problems to solve the dependencies. Due to an test I tried to recreate an project on the same path and moved the old project to my desktop. Than to look at the code I opened the old project and after that it worked.
Solution
Visual Studio is not able to solve the dependencies when the path is to long. Now I have changed the path and it works.
Well, I have some static website files that are required to be added to my project's Resources, so i normally selected build action "Resource" but for some reason whenever i rebuild the solution i get this strange error. After fiddling around for couple of hours i noticed that somehow visual studio doesn't include file extensions when naming a resource so i narrowed down the conflict to be in the fonts folder.

Questions
Is this a bug in VS 2017 ?, if not is there a way to actually solve
this ?
Notes
If i normally Build the solution it succeeds, however if i
Rebuild that's when the error occurs.
Check if there is an item in your project file being referenced twice. In question error RG1000: Unknown build error this has happened after a code merge.
After removing that duplicate reference, clean the project and manually delete obj and bin folder - just to be sure.
Everything was fine but suddenly Resources stopped working.
I have ASP.NET MVC5 Application.
All i see is message:
Error 3: The type or namespace name 'User' does not exist
in the namespace 'MyProject.Resources' (are you missing
an assembly reference?)
But, this problem is only in .cs files! In Views everything is OK!
All I see for example in some controller is Resources.App_LocalResources but this is empty namespace. In .cshtml file I see all my resources!
It looks like some problem with Visual Studio, because it happend suddenly. Earlier everything was fine.
Any ideas?
I have already restarted Visual Studio many times, I have resterd even computer. But nothing's changed.
EDIT:
Problem solved.
I have replaced .csproj of my Resources project to older version. I had to add again few files but now everything's OK.
So it was damaged project file.
You can do "unload project" when right clicking on the Core/database project. Right click on the project file again selecting "edit". Now you should be able to manually edit the csproj file.
Try adding the missing references, or editing them if they are pointing to the output folder of your build
I had a similar issue and I solved it doing the following steps:
Changing the Resource Propertie 'Custom Tool' to 'PublicResXFileCodeGenerator'.
After changing this propertie, the Resource Class was automaticaly updated as follows: Class Updated.
After these steps I was able to make the correct reference to the resource file.
Hope it helps!
I can't believe that!
Project is crashing after adding exactly 10 resources files!
As long as there is max 9 files - it works. I add 10th file and errors appear! I remove this file, and everything is OK again!
How can this happen?!
When building a vs project, the build fails with the following error :
Error 3846 Could not write to output file 'obj\Debug\app.exe' --
'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. '
However, when I use unlocker to view what's locking the file, no blocking process is found?
The only solution to make the build work is to delete the'obj\Debug\app.exe' file manually.
Throughout the project though, we are getting the following warning :
Warning: the type x in 'E:\\ProjectDir\CustomClass.css' conflicts with the imported type x
in 'obj\Debug\app.exe'. Using the type defined in 'E:\\ProjectDir\CustomClass.css'
I suspect this warning is the cause of the project not building.
However, I have no idea why the type is conflicting, or what VS is doing??
Any ideas anyone?
Edit: As suggested by kostas ch., renaming the output file (app.exe -> app2.exe) makes the build work again. However, the same warning stays and still mentions the old app.exe name? Removing the app.exe in the obj\Debug folder makes for a new warning, this time it mentions the app.exe in bin\Debug. Removing that file makes the warning go away, and the project keeps building ok.
However, when renaming the output file agiain to the old name app.exe, the same error returns .. ??
I have no idea whatsoever is happening, but I'm glad for the workaround, thanks kostas.ch!
Rename the app.exe. I have faced same problem before and i did not find any solution. This is not then best practice but it works and i have not found something else.
For error:
Error 3846 Could not write to output file 'obj\Debug\app.exe' --
'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process. '
First try:
The application is still running.
Just Start the task manager, click Processes Tab, find app.exe, right click it and click End Process.
Second:
Restart the Visual Studio.
Third:
Stop Visual Studio, delete app.exe and start Visual Studio.
Warning: the type x in 'E:\ProjectDir\CustomClass.css' conflicts with
the imported type x in 'obj\Debug\app.exe'. Using the type defined in
'E:\ProjectDir\CustomClass.css'
Maybe you refer to other project that have the same x type.
The solution is just type:
x xvariable;
Right click on 'x' and Goto Declaration, it will show both the source code of x that are conflicted and remove that is not correct or rename it.
I had a like this.
A lots of warning have generated for all of my classes in the solution that have said:
The type "myNamespace.myClassname" conflicts with "....\release\....exe". Using...
I explored the "Solution Explorer" and found a reference with name of my namespace in the list.
simply I removed it, and it removed warnings.
While working on my MonoDroid/Xamarin.Android app, it suddenly stopped building, telling me
"java" exited with code 1.
After turning on normal MSBuild output verbosity, it showed that the error occurred in Xamarin.Android.Common.targets, located in C:\Program Files (x86)\MSBuild\Xamarin\Android. The line (line 988) starts this block of xml:
<CompileToDalvik
JavaMaximumHeapSize="$(JavaMaximumHeapSize)"
JavaOptions="$(JavaOptions)"
AndroidSdkDirectory="$(_AndroidSdkDirectory)"
ClassesOutputDirectory="$(IntermediateOutputPath)android\bin\classes"
JavaSdkDirectory="$(_JavaSdkDirectory)"
MonoPlatformJarPath="$(MonoPlatformJarPath)"
JavaSourceFiles="#(AndroidJavaSource)"
JavaLibraries="#(AndroidJavaLibrary)"
LibraryProjectJars="$(IntermediateOutputPath)__library_projects__\*.jar"
UseDx="$(UseDx)"
/>
Also, when I have the above file open, I have 53 warnings, all similar to:
The element 'PropertyGroup' in namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003' has invalid child element 'ResolveReferencesDependsOn' in namespace
'http://schemas.microsoft.com/developer/msbuild/2003'. List of possible elements expected: 'Property, AllowUnsafeBlocks, ... [followed by a long list of elements]
I deleted all the code that I had recently added, then ended up doing a full revert to previous code that worked, but the error continues no matter what I do. I found a resolved bug that may occur on the same line, but the solution given there didn't work for me. Also, because of the warnings and the fact that my code used to work it its current revision, it doesn't seem to be the same problem. Any ideas why this would happen, and how I might fix it?
More details: I tried running a new M4A project and it worked fine, so it looks like it isn't a problem with the M4A file, but something my code.
Even more details: I was going through each class, commenting them out to see if I could find a particular block that was causing the problem, when the error suddenly changed. It now displays an error identical to the one found in this question. I am also using the 30-day trial. However, I am using Visual Studio. I'll be seeing if the answer and comments there will help me too.
I had the same problem and solved it by deleting my entire solution an pulling it from source control again. If you do not have a source to pull from, then i suggest deleting all generated files such as the contents of bin and debug folders.
Yes It's a good solution I have removed same problem from my project.
Step that you have need
1. Delete Bin and obj folder from project
2. Delete Solution File From Project Folder
3. Open New Visual Studio and then Click File > Open > Project/Solution >
Select Folder Where placed you project.
and after all, Rebuild Solution file and then rebuild your project.
I am sure u will success about this problem.....
I encountered this problem on a colleague's computer. The problem ended up being that his old sdk was installed under Program Files, while the update installed it under AppData. Changing this folder under Options > Xamarin > Android in Visual Studio solved the problem for him.
I have solved by disabling the Proguard option and able to build it.
Right Click on Project -> Click Properties -> Android Options -> Uncheck Checkbox of Enable Proguard.
